摘要: An exhaust gas purifying system for a cylinder direct internal combustion engine having a fuel injector valve for directly injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of the engine. The exhaust gas purifying system comprises an adsorbent catalytic converter disposed in an exhaust gas passageway of the engine. The adsorbent catalytic converter including a catalytic element having an adsorption layer. The adsorption layer contains an adsorbent for adsorbing HC (hydrocarbons) of exhaust gas in a first temperature range and to release the adsorbed HC in a second temperature range which is high relative to the first temperature range, and a catalyst component for promoting reaction for oxidizing HC which is released from the adsorbent. A control unit is provided to be programmed to carry out (a) judging that a temperature of the adsorption layer has reaches a releasing level relating to the second temperature range, so as to make a first judgment result; (b) judging that a temperature of exhaust gas flown into the adsorbent catalytic converter will rise upon injection of an additional fuel from the fuel injector valve into the combustion chamber during a time period including an expansion stroke and an exhaust stroke of the engine, so as to make a second judgment result; and (c) causing the fuel injector valve to controllably inject the additional fuel during the time period including the expansion stroke and the exhaust stroke of the engine upon making both the first and second judgment results.

摘要: The delay of fuel flow in an intake passage of an engine is divided into two categories, namely a short-term delay having a relatively fast time constant and a long-term delay having a relatively slow time constant. The corrections for each delay are stored separately depending on the engine running conditions. A mechanism is provided for estimating the particle diameter of the fuel spray, and either the long-term delay correction is modified so that it increases or the short-term delay correction is modified so that it decreases as the particles of fuel spray become smaller. The basic fuel injection amount during transient engine running conditions is corrected by applying the delay flow correction thereby modified, and error in the air-fuel ratio during transient conditions due to atomization of fuel particles is prevented.

摘要: A multi-link engine has a piston coupled to a crankshaft to move inside an engine cylinder. A piston pin connects the piston to an upper link, which is connected to a lower link by an upper link pin. A crank pin of the crankshaft rotatably supports the lower link thereon. A control link pin connects the lower link to one end of a control link, which is connected at another end to the engine block body by a control shaft. The upper link has an upper link axis that forms an angle with the cylinder axis, as viewed along a crank axis direction of the crankshaft, such that the angle reaches a minimum when a crank angle of the engine is within a range where the bottom end of a piston skirt is positioned below a topmost part of the bottom end of the cylinder liner.
