Abstract: A mobile station performs Observed Time Difference of Arrival (OTDOA) positioning by measuring a time of arrival (TOA) of downlink signals transmitted from a reference cell and one or more neighbor cells. Reference Signal Time Differences (RSTDs) are generated using TOA measurements from the reference cell and each neighbor cell. The mobile station reports to a location server location information, including the RSTD measurements and the times of measurement for the TOA measurements. The mobile station may further generate and report additional RSTD and/or TOA measurements and associated times of measurement for the reference cell and/or neighbor cells. A location server may use the RSTD measurements, the times of measurement and any TOA measurements to determine a position of the mobile station taking into account user motion and base station clock drift and/or may adjust the uncertainty of the resulting position.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques related to wireless communications. In an aspect, a network entity determines whether a source reference signal transmitted from a first transmission-reception point (TRP) is a quasi-collocation (QCL) source of a target reference signal transmitted from a second TRP based, at least in part, on a first bandwidth (BW) portion occupied by the source reference signal and a second BW portion occupied by the target reference signal, the first BW portion having a first start frequency and a first BW size and the second BW portion having a second start frequency and a second BW size, and configures a user equipment (UE) with the source reference signal as the QCL source of the target reference signal when it is so determined.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining round-trip time (RTT) of a user equipment (UE). In an aspect, each gNodeB in a plurality of gNodeBs measure signaling data related to an uplink RTT reference signal received from the UE and the downlink RTT reference signal transmitted by each gNodeB. The signaling data comprises one of a processing delay between a time of arrival (TOA) of the uplink RTT reference signal and a time of transmission (TOT) of the downlink RTT reference signal or a total RTT between the TOT of the downlink RTT reference signal and the TOA of the uplink RTT reference signal. The signaling data is sent to a single entity, other than the UE, e.g., another gNodeB or a location server, where signaling data relevant to the UE is aggregated. The aggregated signaling data may be sent to the UE to determine the RTT for the UE or used by the location server to determine the RTT for the UE.

In one example, a method, on a base station, for providing position measurements signals in a wireless communication network, comprises: determining a plurality of subcarriers for downlink transmission, wherein the plurality of subcarriers for downlink transmission comprise all subcarriers indicated in a resource block of a scheduled time of transmission within a scheduled transmission occasion, wherein the resource block comprises a plurality of symbol periods, wherein each symbol period of the plurality of symbol periods is for transmission of a symbol using one or more subcarriers of the plurality of subcarriers; and transmitting at the scheduled time of transmission, and using each subcarrier of the plurality of subcarriers, a wireless position measurement signal at the scheduled transmission occasion, the wireless position measurement signal being part of a sequence of wireless signals representing a position measurement signal bitstream.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support aperiodic and cross component carrier PRSs. Generally, the described techniques provide for receiving a dynamic trigger indicating that a UE is to monitor for one or more downlink positioning reference signals (PRSs). The UE may generate a timing measurement for the one or more downlink PRSs, and may transmit a measurement report that indicates the timing measurement to a transmission/reception point. A UE may also transmit a capability indicator, indicating that the UE is capable of maintaining phase coherence for a PRS that spans multiple component carriers, receive control signaling that indicates multiple component carries on which the PRS is phase coherent, generate a timing measurement for the PRS based on the control signaling, and transmit a measurement report that indicates the timing measurement to the transmission/reception point.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining a distance (or range) between a first wireless entity and a second wireless entity. In an aspect, the first wireless entity transmits a first positioning reference signaling (PRS) signal to the second wireless entity at a first time, where the first PRS signal is received by the second wireless entity at a second time, and receives a second PRS signal from the second wireless entity at a third time, where the second PRS signal is transmitted by the second wireless entity at a fourth time. The first wireless entity enables the distance to be determined by a location computing entity, for example, by a location server, based on the first, second, third, and fourth times. The first wireless entity may be a mobile device or a base station and the second wireless entity may be the other of the mobile device or base station.

Abstract: A wireless network including user equipment (UE) and base stations is configured to perform position determination with low latency and high availability within the Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) framework. For example, the UE may be integrated as a sensor in a motion control system or similar applications. The UE and base stations are synchronized with the TSN clock, and are configured to perform positioning measurements at a specific time point within the TSN framework. The time point, for example, may be a global sampling point, at which all sensor nodes in the TSN framework perform position measurements. A location server may be provided with the positioning measurements or a position estimate from the UE and provide the position estimate to an external client, such as a motion controller in a motion control system.
