    摘要: A method for applying brazing material to a metal structure includes applying a sticky material maintaining adhesiveness up to temperatures of at least 180.degree. C. and preferably above 200.degree. C., to at least a subregion of the structure. Then brazing powder is applied which continues to adhere to the sticky material. After the application of the brazing powder but before an actual brazing process, the structure is heat treated without the brazing powder falling out during the heat treatment or during ensuing handling steps. The heat treatment may be a heat-degreasing of the structural parts that do not have or do not yet have brazing material applied to them.

    摘要: A metallic honeycomb body, such as a catalyst carrier body for the exhaust system of a motor vehicle, includes sheet metal layers at least partly having at least one macrostructure forming a plurality of channels for conveying a fluid in a given flow direction. The at least one macrostructure determines a shape of the honeycomb body, an average channel width and essential mechanical properties of the honeycomb body. At least a part of the sheet metal layers have at least partial regions with microstructures. The microstructures have a height being substantially from 0.01 to about 0.3 times the average channel width and being at least 15 .mu.m. The microstructures extend transversely or at an angle relative to the given flow direction and are spaced substantially from 1-10 mm apart from each other in the given flow direction.

    摘要: A honeycomb body for an exhaust-gas purification system may be used, for example, as a carrier body for catalytically acting coatings or as a filter, absorber or mixer in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. The honeycomb body has channels, an axial main direction, a planar front surface, a planar end surface and a circumferential surface disposed parallel to the axial main direction. The front surface and/or the end surface are disposed obliquely with respect to the axial main direction. Such a honeycomb body is advantageous, in particular, for applying reducing agent to the oblique end or front surface. A method for producing a honeycomb body, an exhaust line section and a motor vehicle are also provided.

    摘要: A catalyst carrier body includes a honeycomb body having sheet-metal layers and an axial extent. The sheet-metal layers are at least partly structured in such a way that the honeycomb body has passages through which an exhaust gas can flow. The sheet-metal layers of the honeycomb body have end regions lying radially outwardly. A tubular jacket has an edge and an axial span shorter than the axial extent of the honeycomb body. The tubular jacket is connected to the honeycomb body in at least one axial partial-region by a joining technique. A sleeve has an axial length shorter than the axial extent of the honeycomb body and is disposed on an outer region of the honeycomb body, in the vicinity of an end surface. The sleeve has an inner shell surface connected by a joining technique to the end regions of the sheet-metal layers at the end surfaces. The honeycomb body projects beyond an edge of the tubular jacket in a projecting section surrounded by the sleeve. In this way, stresses between the honeycomb body and the tubular jacket are avoided even with high thermal loads on the catalyst carrier body. A catalytic converter having the catalyst carrier body is also provided.
