Abstract:
An electronic device, a server and a method for packing and consuming video content are disclosed. The electronic device includes a sensor, a processor operably connected to the sensor, and a transceiver operably connected to the processor. The processor is configured to determine a current viewport for video content based on an output of the sensor. The transceiver is configured to request and receive a media stream including (i) a high-resolution video partition of the video content that covers the current viewport and (ii) a low-resolution version of the video content that is rotated relative to the video content. The processor is further configured to process the package to render at least one of the high-resolution video partition of the video content or the low-resolution version of the video content. The high-resolution video partition and the low-resolution video of the video content are packed together.
Abstract:
A UE includes a communication unit, a display, at least one sensor, and a processor. The communication unit receives video from a server and the display renders a portion of the video. The sensor determines a pitch and a yaw of the portion of the video and a processor generates metadata that includes the pitch and the yaw.
Abstract:
An electronic device, non-transitory computer readable medium and a method for management of network based media processing functions is provided. The method includes receiving a list of functions included in a functions repository; building a workflow using functions within the list of functions; determining an output of a first function and an input of a second function that are not compatible; inserting compatibility functions between the first function and the second function; creating a function group with the first function, the compatibility functions, and the second function; replacing each instance where the first function immediately precedes the second function with the function group.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus control receiving media data in a transmission system. A method of operating a receiving entity in the transmission system includes receiving packets for media data and information about a fixed delay associated with the media data. The method also includes identifying a requirement configured to guarantee that the packets for the media data are delivered to an upper layer of the receiving entity after the fixed delay, from the information about the fixed delay. The method further includes identifying a buffer size requirement for the receiving entity estimated based on the fixed delay and bitrate information associated with the media data; and delivering the packets to the upper layer of the receiving entity.
Abstract:
A method of operating a sending entity in the transmission system includes identifying a fixed delay associated with a transmission of media data in the transmission system and sending, to a receiving entity, information about the fixed delay as a requirement being configured to guarantee that packets for the media data, received by the receiving entity, are delivered to an upper layer of the receiving entity after the fixed delay. A method of operating a receiving entity in the transmission system includes receiving media data and information about a fixed delay associated with the media data and identifying a requirement, being configured to guarantee that packets for the media data are delivered to an upper layer after the fixed delay, from the information about the fixed delay.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for flexible broadcast service over multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS). The method includes transmitting a request for a location of content to a server. The method also includes when a MBMS is available for the content, receiving a MBMS delivery description for the location of the content, and joining session for the MBMS that carries the content based on the MBMS delivery description. The method further includes receiving a non-MBMS uniform resource locator (URL) for the content when the MBMS is not available for the content.
Abstract:
A method for annotating instructions of Composition Information (CI) files to update a hypertext markup language (HTML) document is provided. The method includes receiving a CI file including a set of instructions. The method also includes determining the current presentation time. The method further includes determining for each instruction or the set of instructions of the CI file if the instruction or the set of instructions is obsolete at the determined presentation time. The method includes parsing the remaining instructions that are determined not to be obsolete to update the HTML document.
Abstract:
A method for providing media content in a computer network includes storing the media content, where the media content includes a segment having a group of frames. The method also includes determining a transmission rate for traffic to a client device. The method further includes selecting a subset of frames to drop from the group of frames based on (i) the transmission rate and (ii) a frame difference distortion (FDIFF) metric of each frame in the subset of frames. The method also includes shaping the segment by dropping the selected subset of frames from the group of frames, where the shaped segment has a lower bitrate than the segment. In addition, the method includes transmitting the shaped segment to the client device.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for wireless communication between at least one base station and user equipment, the user equipment including a transceiver and processing circuitry. The transceiver is configured to receive a packet comprising a control message with a header and a payload related to fragments of multimedia content. The header includes a message identifier indicating whether the control message is a low delay consumption message, a length of the controller message, and a version of the control message. The processing circuitry is configured to determine whether the control message is the low delay consumption message based on the message identifier. The processing circuitry is also configured to, responsive to the control message being the low delay consumption message, configure the packet based on the payload and the control message before receiving headers of the fragments of the multimedia content.
Abstract:
A method for providing display adaptation metadata (DAM) to a user equipment (UE) at a system level is provided. The method includes configuring DAM for storage in an ISO Base Media File Format (ISOBMFF). The method also includes transmitting the DAM to a UE to control an energy consumption of a presentation on a display of the UE. A method for providing display adaptation metadata (DAM) to a user equipment (UE) at a system level is provided. The method includes configuring DAM for carriage in an MPEG-2 transport system (M2TS). The method also includes transmitting the DAM to a UE to control an energy consumption of a presentation on a display of the UE.
