摘要: A method for making an inkjet printhead nozzle plate from a composite strip containing a nozzle layer and an adhesive layer is disclosed. The adhesive layer is coated with a polymeric sacrificial layer prior to laser ablating the flow features in the composite strip. A method is also provided form improving adhesion between the adhesive layer and the sacrificial layer. Once the composite strip containing the sacrificial layer is prepared, the coated composite strip is then laser ablated to form flow features in the strip in order to form the nozzle plates. After forming the flow features, the sacrificial layer is removed individual inkjet printhead nozzle plate are separated from the composite strip by singulating the nozzle plates with a laser.

摘要: Separate adhesive is avoided in the manufacture of a thermal ink jet printhead by positioning a thermoplastic nozzle plate (1) on a semiconductor circuit chip (3) and electrically firing the ink ejection resistors (5) in a controlled amount to melt the lower surface in contact with the chip while not damaging the body of the nozzle plate. The resistors are fired in their intended pattern of operation during use so not to damage the resistors. Additional resistors may be added just for this bonding operation if needed with particular chip designs.

摘要: A printhead is provided comprising a plate having a plurality of orifices through which ink droplets are ejected and a heater chip coupled to the plate. The heater chip includes at least one heating element provided on a main body portion of the heater chip. The main body portion includes at least one first conductor and at least one second conductor for providing current to the heating element. The first conductor is positioned in a first plane and the second conductor is positioned in a second plane which is vertically spaced from the first plane. The heating element is positioned between the first and second conductors and has a substantially constant cross-sectional area along a first axis which is generally parallel to the direction of current flow.

摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for monitoring the surface level of a liquid, such as molten metal, by moving first and second sensing electrodes vertically with respect to the surface level of the liquid, positioning the lower portion of the second electrode vertically displaced upwardly with respect to the lower portion of the first electrode, such that the amount of vertical displacement is directly related to the accuracy of determining the liquid level, generating an electrical signal as a function of each electrode position, then moving the first and second electrode vertically with respect to the surface level of the liquid in response to the electrical signal corresponding to each electrode, and thereafter determining the liquid level when the first electrode is in contact with the liquid and the second electrode is in noncontacting position above the liquid.
