Further, it is possible to identify the top and bottom of the document image by analyzing the distribution states the pixel cumulative values in the main scanning direction and the sub scanning direction of the image signals and identifying letter series regions and line segment regions displaced therefrom. In addition thereto, it is possible to automatically identify the top and bottom of the document image based on distribution states in the main scanning direction and the sub scanning direction of specific signs included in the image signals provided by scanning the document or distribution states of pixel cumulative values of specific image regions including the specific signs.

摘要： A film scanner for generating output image data by applying a correction process referring to a predetermined parameter to the read out image data generated by scanning an original is connected to a digital color printer. When an adjustment mode is specified in the film scanner, the reference output image data generated based on scanning a reference original by a printer is fed to the film scanner to be set as the target data. Based on read out image data generated by scanning a reference original having characteristics identical to those of a reference original, a parameter is calculated to be set for a correction process so that output image data matching the reference data is generated.

摘要： An image forming apparatus maintaining the fixing temperature at a fixed level, by detecting the surface temperature of a heating roller provided internally with a heater in a fixing unit, and by controlling an on-time which starts upon the surface temperature reaching a predetermined temperature and ends when the heater is switched on and an off-time which starts upon the surface temperature reaching the predetermined temperature and ends when the heater is switched off. The on-time and off-time data are stored in a memory corresponding to use conditions such as ambient temperature and the type of paper to be used. Initially, an image fixing operation is executed in accordance with the data prestored in the memory, and transition of the surface temperature of the heating roller is detected which results from the image fixing operation. Data concerning new on-time and off-time are calculated on the basis of the detection result, and the calculation result is used as feedback for a next image fixing operation.
