    摘要: A reliable image display apparatus is provided that is capable of preventing a direct current from being applied to liquid crystal of a spatial light modulating element so that damage such as burns in the liquid crystal and screen flicker may be prevented and a high resolution image with high image quality may be displayed. The image display apparatus is configured to divide a frame into 2i sub frames (i corresponding to a natural number) and sequentially display the sub frames using the liquid crystal spatial light modulating element. The image display apparatus includes a polarity switching unit configured to reverse the polarity of a drive voltage for a pixel of the spatial light modulating element for every j sub frame(s) (j corresponding to a natural number that is less than 2i) and for every n frame(s)(n corresponding to a natural number).

    摘要: A magneto-optical recording method for recording information in an overwrite mode in a magneto-optical recording medium by the application of a laser beam is disclosed. The magneto-optical recording medium includes a substrate, and at least two magnetic recording layers overlaid thereon, with an exchange force working at least between the two magnetic recording layers, and the Curie temperature of each of the two magnetic recording layers being substantially the same. The magneto-optical recording method includes the step of conducting overwriting information by changing the power of the laser beam to be applied to at least two different levels, one at which the magnetic recording layers are heated to a temperature near or higher than the Curie temperature, and the other at which the magnetic recording layers are heated to a temperature lower than the Curie temperature, while a magnetic field is applied to the magneto-optical recording medium in one direction, in accordance with signals to be recorded in the magneto-optical recording medium, and this recording method requires only one initialization by the application of the magnetic field, but does not require any further initialization thereafter.

    摘要: An optical scanning device includes a light source that emits first and second light beams, and an optical splitter to which the first and second light beams deflected by an optical deflector are incident. Principal rays of the first and second light beams incident to the optical splitter are nonparallel to each other in a plane orthogonal to a main-scanning direction. Transmitted light from the optical splitter out of the first light beam and reflected light from the optical splitter out of the second light beam are guided to corresponding scanning target surfaces, and transmitted light from the optical splitter out of the second light beam and reflected light from the optical splitter out of the first light beam reach none of the scanning target surfaces.

    摘要: An optical scanning device scanning scan target surfaces in a first direction with light includes: a light source emitting first and second light beams corresponding to two of the scan target surfaces; an optical deflector including a reflection surface on which the emitted first and second light beams are obliquely incident while being separated from each other in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, and deflecting the first and second light beams; a scanning lens disposed on respective optical paths of the deflected first and second light beams; and a branching optical element transmitting therethrough most of the first light beam transmitted through the scanning lens, and reflecting most of the second light beam transmitted through the scanning lens. The deflected first and second light beams intersect between the optical deflector and the branching optical element, when projected on a plane perpendicular to the first direction.
