摘要: A method for monitoring the state of health (SOH) of a solenoid powered by a battery includes measuring a voltage and a current supplied to the solenoid by the battery, using a processor to determine each of an equivalent resistance and inductance of the solenoid using the voltage and the current, comparing the equivalent resistance and the equivalent inductance to a corresponding calibrated threshold, and recording deviations from the corresponding calibrated thresholds as a pair of SOH values. A trend of the SOH values is continuously monitored, and an appropriate control action is taken when either SOH value drops below a calibrated lower limit. A solenoid monitoring system includes a solenoid, voltage and current sensors, and a controller having an algorithm for continuously monitoring a state of health (SOH) of the solenoid as set forth above.

摘要: A method for classifying a road surface condition by estimating the maximum tire/road surface coefficient of friction and actively inducing acceleration or deceleration. In one embodiment, the induced acceleration/deceleration is provided by applying torque to the driven wheels of the vehicle. The speeds of the driven and non-driven wheels are measured. The tire/road surface coefficient of friction and the driven wheel slip ratio are calculated from the wheel speeds. The tire/road surface coefficient of friction and the wheel slip ratio are used to determine the slope of the wheel slip/coefficient of friction curve, which is used to classify the road surface condition.

摘要: There is provided a method and article of manufacture for monitoring an electrical energy storage device for a system. The method comprises stabilizing the electrical energy storage device. Once the device is stabilized, a discrete electrical load is cyclically applied to the electrical energy storage device and state variables of the electrical energy storage device are monitored. A resistance of the electrical energy storage device is determined, and a remaining useful life parameter of the electrical energy storage device is determined based upon the determined resistance.

摘要: A control system and method for use in vehicles, such as automotive vehicles. The control system and method is particularly adapted for use in vehicles having by-wire control systems. The control system uses three system controllers. Each of the controllers is adapted to receive redundant control inputs from at least one input device, such as a steering actuator, an accelerator actuator and a brake actuator. Each controller is adapted to receive a different unprocessed actuator sensor signal and a processed actuator sensor signal which are associated with the input device. Each controller may also be adapted to receive a sensor status signal which is also associated with the input device. In accordance with the method of the invention, these signals may be used to determine a sensor signal which may be used as the basis for control of control systems or components in response to the input device. Depending on the status of these signals, the sensor signal used for control may comprise the processed sensor signal or a resolved sensor signal. The sensor signal used for control may be determined by implementing a voting process in conjunction with the controllers which utilizes both the unprocessed sensor signals and the processed sensor signals.

A method for evaluating the starting system includes detecting a fault associated with the starter motor when a minimum starting system voltage during a cranking event is greater than a threshold minimum starting system voltage determined in relation to an engine acceleration parameter, and detecting a fault associated with the battery when the engine acceleration parameter is less than a minimum threshold for the engine acceleration parameter.

摘要: A method is provided for determining a cranking capability of a starting system for an internal combustion engine. An average power output of a battery is determined for the starting system during a start engine cranking interval. A temperature of the starting system is determined at an initiation of the start engine cranking interval. A predetermined average power output capability for a battery having a full state of charge at the determined temperature is looked up. A predetermined minimum average power output required of the battery for starting the respective engine at the determined temperature is looked up. A state of function based on the determined average power outputs is determined. The cranking capability of the starting system is identified in response to the determined state of function.
