Abstract: A vehicle includes a chassis, tractive elements coupled to the chassis, an electrical system, and a controller. The electrical system includes an electrical load, a first energy storage device coupled to the electrical load, the first energy storage device utilizing a first energy storage technology, and a second energy storage device selectively coupled to the electrical load by a switch, the second energy storage device utilizing a second energy storage technology different from the first energy storage technology. The controller is coupled to the switch and configured to command the switch to disconnect the second energy storage device from the electrical load in response to an indication of a power draw from the electrical load.

Abstract: A system and method of remotely enabling and disabling the starting of one or more vehicles using hardware components installed within a case and a data processing device (DPD), such as a smart phone, in logical communication with one of the vehicle and the case via a WAN, wherein an ignition request is relayed via the WAN to server which parses the ignition request into one or more encrypted ignition instructions, each encrypted ignition instruction sent to a separate vehicle exclusively associated with the encrypted ignition instruction.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes an engine block, a crankshaft configured to rotate about a crankshaft axis, a flywheel coupled to the crankshaft and positioned above the engine block, an outer housing positioned above the engine block and the flywheel, and an electric starting system. The electric starting system includes an electric motor and an energy storage device positioned above the flywheel and below the outer housing. The energy storage device is electrically coupled to the electric motor to power the electric motor. When the electric starting system is configured to rotate the crankshaft to start the engine when the electric starting system is activated.

Abstract: In a control device for a battery of a marine vessel, a first value indicating either a voltage or a power storage amount of a main battery to supply electric power to start the engine is acquired. When the first value that has been acquired is smaller than a first threshold value, at least one of a prohibition of a transition to a motor drive mode in which a propeller is driven by using at least a motor regardless of an operation mode that is designated and a prohibition of charging a load battery is performed, and the engine is caused to rotate to charge the main battery.

Abstract: A starter battery system for an air cooled engine rated at less than 50 horsepower. The system includes four lithium iron phosphate cells and a charging circuit configured to be powered by rotation of an air cooled engine. A voltage developed by the charging circuit is applied to the four lithium iron phosphate cells without battery management circuitry provided between the charging circuitry and the four lithium iron phosphate cells.
An engine which includes at least one piston, a rotatable crankshaft coupled to the at least one piston, a starter motor configured to selectively initiate rotation of the crankshaft, a lithium-ion battery in electrical communication with the starter motor, the lithium-ion battery having at least one cell, and a charging system configured to be powered by motion of at least one component of the engine. The charging system is configured to continuously apply a voltage potential to the at least one cell while the engine is in a running condition.
An engine including at least one piston, a rotatable crankshaft coupled to the at least one piston, a starter motor configured to selectively initiate rotation of the crankshaft, a lithium-ion battery in electrical communication with the starter motor, the lithium-ion battery having four lithium iron phosphate cells, and a charging system configured to be powered by the engine. The charging system is electrically coupled to the lithium-ion battery and configured to charge the lithium-ion battery and no battery management circuitry is provided between the charging system and the lithium-ion battery.-

Abstract: A multifunctional battery health state detection device is disclosed, which includes a housing, two ignition clamps for connecting to a vehicle battery; a microcontroller; a sampling circuit connected to the two ignition clamps for sampling a voltage signal of the vehicle battery; and an indicator unit including a plurality of indicators configured to display a ranking of the battery health state of the vehicle battery. Abstract: An engine-driven generator may comprise an engine, a generator, a motor, a battery, a power supply circuit, and a processor. The processor may be configured to detect that the battery has a sufficient power supply capability that enables a piston of the engine to pass over a compression top dead center, at the start of the engine. The processor may permit ignition of the engine in a case where the processor has detected that the battery has the sufficient power supply capability. The processor may avoid the ignition of the engine in a case where the processor has not detected that the battery has the sufficient power supply capability.
