A reset pulse generating section applies the total of voltages of a positive voltage source and two constant-voltage sources from a high side ramp wave generating section to a high side scan switching device as the upper limit of a reset voltage pulse, and applies the ground potential from a low side ramp wave generating section to a low side scan switching device as the lower limit of the reset voltage pulse. A sustaining pulse generating section applies the upper and lower limits of a sustaining voltage pulse through a common sustaining pulse transmission path to the low side scan switching device.
Abstract:
A reception result of an analog signal transmitted from a local switch to a subscriber line, or a voltage difference corresponding to a line current is analyzed, and a transmission characteristic in the subscriber line is evaluated based on an analyzing result. The transmission characteristic is sent to a network by use of a function of an analog transmitting unit. Noises having power of a predetermined threshold value or more are detected from a data signal input to a digital transmitting unit, and a periodicity of the noises is examined, whereby influences of the cyclic noises are evaluated, and an examination result is sent to the network by use of the function of the analog transmitting unit. As a result, provided is an xDSL modem capable of automatically collecting various characteristics of the subscriber line connected thereto prior to a start of a provision of a broadband communication service.

A motor control apparatus includes an inverter circuit 2 for supplying driving power to a motor 3, motor current detector 4 for detecting current flowing through the motor 3, inverter controller 5E for controlling the inverter circuit 2 based on the output of the detector 4. The inverter controller 5E has a setting unit 6E for setting various command values to control motor driving status, and processing unit 8 for controlling the inverter circuit 2 based on the setting on the setting unit 6E. The setting unit 6E sets command value so that a load angle which is an angle between rotor axis and motor applied voltage is operated on the smaller side of the angle that provides the maximum output torque in the load angle-output torque characteristics.

An ADSL modem connected to the telephone line is disclosed, which even in the case where a plurality of ADSL modems are connected to a single telephone line installed in a SOHO application or in the home of an ordinary user, a stable high-speed data communication can be realized without superposing the signals between the ADSL models or without causing any impedance mismatch. An ADSL band signal detector (11) detects whether the ADSL frequency band is occupied by another ADSL modem connected to the telephone line or not. Upon detection that the ADSL frequency is so occupied, a control unit (12, 13) suppresses the application of the signal energy to the ADSL frequency band.

A transmission level setting circuit outputs a signal having a transmission level with respect to a portable telephone based on a signal transmitted from a modem unit. The transmission level setting circuit includes a part which receives the signal from the modem unit, and a circuit which automatically outputs a signal having a fixed level regardless of the signal transmission level of the modem unit.

A modem apparatus performs modulation and demodulation between a telephone circuit and a terminal apparatus. The modem apparatus includes a modem circuit, and a codec circuit performing conversion between an analog signal and a digital signal. Capacitors are provided between the modem circuit and the codec circuit, a signal supplied from the terminal apparatus and a signal supplied from the codec circuit being supplied to the modem circuit, and a signal supplied from the telephone circuit and a signal supplied from the modem circuit being supplied to the codec circuit.

In a signal point arranging method for use with a quadrature amplitude modulator/demodulator device in which a desired number of signal points are arranged on a rectangular plane, a plurality of grid points are first set such that they are symmetrical with respect to the rectangular coordinate axes of the rectangular plane and arranged at intervals of a unit distance. Next, a plurality of concentric circles with their center at the coordinate origin of the rectangular plane are set, each of the concentric circles having a radius equal to a distance between the coordinate origin and a grid point. Then, a desired number of signal points are arranged on points of intersection of the grid points, the concentric circles beginning with the circle smallest in radius and continuing with circles of increasing radius. As a result, each of the signal points can be arranged as close to the coordinate origin as possible, thus enabling the peak power of modulated signals to be minimized. In addition, since the distance between signal points can be held constant, the S/N characteristic does not vary with the signal points and a constant transmission error rate can be secured. As a result, a signal point arrangement is obtained which enables data transmission at minimum required power, reduces transmission error rate and minimizes the S/N characteristic.

A multipoint type MODEM communication system having a training device for adapting receiving parameters in a receiving MODEM to a characteristic of a telephone line connected to a sending MODEM in response to a training signal sent from the sending MODEM prior to the reception of data. The training signal includes a tone for gain control, a timing signal for pull-in synchronization, and at least two impulses for equalization and carrier phase control, which are superimposed on each other. A time between the first and the last impulses defines the characteristic of the telephone line which should be adjusted in the receiving MODEM.Additional guard impulses may be added prior to and/or after the impulses. A scramble signal also may be added after the impulses.In addition, a method for training the receiving MODEM is disclosed.
