摘要: An ink cartridge is detachably connected to a record head and has a plurality of ink storage chambers 11 (containing third ink storage chamber 17) for containing ink whose concentration gradient occurs and an ink flow passage 18 for making the ink storage chambers communicate with each other. The ink flow passage 18 is implemented as such an ink flow passage where ink in a high-concentration ink layer a formed in a lower area in the ink storage chamber 11 and ink in a low-concentration ink layer b formed in an upper area flow and merge as ink is supplied to the record head.

摘要: The object of the present invention is to provide a high-density ink-jet recording head provided with high resolution using thin film technique by preventing the characteristic of the displacement of a diaphragm from being deteriorated by the tension of the diaphragm, preventing the warp of a substrate from deteriorating the reliability and uniformity and preventing the looseness of the diaphragm from peeling a PZT film and from causing a failure of jetting. The above ink-jet recording head is constituted so that the tension of the diaphragm in which a silicon oxide film (50) with negative tension and a lower electrode film (60) with positive tension are combined is substantially zero or negative and tension obtained by adding the tension of a piezoelectric film (70) with positive tension to the tension of the diaphragm is positive.

摘要: An improved ink jet head is provided. This improved ink jet head comprises a diaphragm, which is part of an ink chamber. The diaphragm includes a segment which contacts an opposing wall by a drive voltage lower than that for the rest of the diaphragm. The ink jet head also comprises an opposing wall opposite to the diaphragm. When the pressure for ink droplet ejection is generated, the segment of the diaphragm contacts the opposing wall, creating an extremely low compliance state. After ink droplet ejection, the segment of the diaphragm separates from the opposing wall, producing a high compliance state that absorbs the pressure created in the ink chamber by oscillation in the ink channel. Thus, pressure in the ink chamber resulting from ink vibration in the ink path including the ink chamber is buffered to prevent satellite emissions. When plural different gaps are formed between the diaphragm and the opposing wall to create the segments requires different drive voltage for contacting the opposing wall, the part of the diaphragm contributing to ink droplet ejection can be selected by appropriately controlling the voltage applied to opposing electrodes. The mass of the ejected ink droplets can thus be variably controlled. Drive at a lower drive voltage is also possible because contact with the opposing wall is propagated from the segment of the diaphragm to the other parts of the diaphragm. A high ink nozzle density is also achieved in an ink jet head using an electrostatic actuator without increasing the drive voltage.

摘要: A method of jetting drops of ink from a print head, and a print head adapted to the method are described. The drops of ink are stably jet with a size smaller than the nozzle openings. Described is a method in which a meniscus m that is initially stationary at a nozzle opening is rapidly drawn so that a central region mc of the meniscus is strongly drawn toward a pressure producing chamber. When the movement of the central region of the meniscus toward the pressure producing chamber begins to reverse, the pressure producing chamber is caused to contract to produce an inertial stream and causing the inertial stream to act intensively on the central region of the meniscus close to the pressure producing chamber side. As a result, by pushing only the central region of the meniscus at a high speed, an ink droplet whose size is smaller than the diameter of the nozzle opening is jetted out stably at a speed suitable for printing.

摘要: An ink-jet recording head, in which two piezoelectric substrates are opposite each other in polarization direction, and grooves are formed across the interface of the two substrates at a predetermined pitch so as to form cavities. One of each of the cavities is opened to the atmosphere and include an orifice adapted for squirting ink drops. The cavities have electrodes formed on their inner surfaces. When a voltage of one polarity is applied to the electrode for the cavity from which ink drops is to be generated whereas a voltage of the other polarity is applied to the electrodes for the two adjacent cavities, the diaphragms separating the three cavities deform in a shear mode towards the cavity from which ink drops is to be generated. As a result, the capacity of the cavity from which ink drops is to be generated decreases to have the ink in the cavity squirt outward from the orifice.

摘要: An embodiment of the present invention may be a system or method for simulating a physical process. The physical process being simulated may be in a droplet. The process being simulated may be the drying of a droplet on a substrate. Simulating the physical process may include using a finite difference scheme to approximate a differential of a function. The function may be dependent on a plurality of variables. The location in space at which one or more of the variables is evaluated may depend on the sign of one or more of the variables and upon which portion of the finite difference equation is being evaluated.

摘要: A method for making en electro-optic device includes a filling step of ejecting liquid matter containing a solvent and a functional layer-forming material into recesses formed in a substrate to fill the recesses with the liquid matter; and a fixing step of removing a solvent component from the liquid matter to fix the functional layer-forming material in the recesses. In the filling step, the concentration of the functional layer-forming material in the liquid matter filling each recess is changed on the basis of the size of an opening width of the recess.
