Abstract: An example system for demonstrating at least one aspect of an orthopedic surgical procedure includes a first device and a second device. In this example, the first device is configured to display a presentation to a first user, wherein the presentation includes one or more virtual elements and wherein the one or more virtual elements comprise a three-dimensional (3D) virtual representation of one or more anatomical features associated with the orthopedic surgical procedure. In this example, the second device is configured to display the presentation to a second user. In this example, the one or more virtual elements demonstrate at least one aspect of the orthopedic surgical procedure and wherein control of at least some of the one or more virtual elements are assignable from the first device to the second device.

In this example, the second device is further configured to display content that informs the second user on one or more previously-executed steps of the orthopedic surgical procedure.

Abstract: An example method includes displaying, via a visualization device and overlaid on a portion of an anatomy of a patient viewable via the visualization device, a virtual model of the portion of the anatomy obtained from a virtual surgical plan for an orthopedic joint repair surgical procedure to attach a prosthetic to the anatomy; and displaying, via the visualization device and overlaid on the portion of the anatomy, a virtual guide that guides at least one of preparation of the anatomy for attachment of the prosthetic or attachment of the prosthetic to the anatomy.

Abstract: A surgical visualization system is disclosed. The surgical visualization system is configured to identify one or more structure(s) and/or determine one or more distances with respect to obscuring tissue and/or the identified structure(s). The surgical visualization system can facilitate avoidance of the identified structure(s) by a surgical device. The surgical visualization system can comprise a first emitter configured to emit a plurality of tissue-penetrating light waves and a second emitter configured to emit structured light onto the surface of tissue. The surgical visualization system can also include an image sensor configured to detect reflected visible light, tissue-penetrating light, and/or structured light. The surgical visualization system can convey information to one or more clinicians regarding the position of one or more hidden identified structures and/or provide one or more proximity indicators. In various instances, imaging data from different sources and/or obtained at different times can be integrated.

Abstract: A sensing device for detecting an artificially induced neuromuscular response within a limb of a subject includes a carrier material and a plurality of mechanical sensors. The carrier material is operative to be secured around a portion of the limb, and each of the plurality of mechanical sensors are coupled with the carrier material. Each mechanical sensor is positioned on the carrier material such that it is operative to monitor a mechanical response of a different muscle group of the limb. Each mechanical sensor then generates a respective mechanomyography output signal corresponding to the monitored mechanical response of its adjacent muscle group.

Abstract: A method of planning a patient-specific cardiac procedure according to an embodiment of the current invention includes receiving three-dimensional imaging data of a patient's heart, simulating at least one of electrophysiological or electromechanical activity of at least a portion of the patient's heart using the three-dimensional imaging data, and planning the patient-specific cardiac procedure based on the simulating. The cardiac procedure is for providing a preselected alteration of at least one of electrophysiological or electromechanical behavior of the patient's heart.

Abstract: Devices and systems have a sensor probe configured to measure tissue oxygen saturation in the intestine or mesentery. The devices and systems can determine the oxygenation state of the entire thickness of the intestine or mesentery. Embodiments of the invention also include methods for inducing a temporary ischemic period in an intestine or mesentery tissue and analyzing changes in oxygen saturation of the tissue during the temporary ischemic period or during a recovery phase. The devices, systems, and methods can be applied in diagnosing intestinal ischemia in a patient, as well as in monitoring tissue oxygen saturation of the intestine or mesentery during or after a surgical procedure.

Abstract: An automated evoked potential analysis apparatus for improved monitoring, detecting and identifying changes to a patient's physiological system, wherein the apparatus includes an input device for obtaining electrical potential data from the patient's physiological system after application of stimulation to a patient's nerve and a computing system for receiving and analyzing the electrical potential data. The computing system includes a processing circuit configured to: generate a plurality of evoked potential waveforms (EPs) based on the electrical potential data and calculate an ensemble average waveform (EA) of a subset of the plurality of EPs. The computing system is further configured to apply a mathematical wavelet transform to the resultant EA, attenuate noise components from the transformed EA, and apply an inverse transform to the transformed EA to generate a denoised EA.
