摘要: There is provided an image reading device, which comprises a photoreceptor unit having photoreceptors aligned in a line, and a signal output unit having output channels from which output signals of the photoreceptors are outputted. The output channels respectively correspond to regions into which the photoreceptors are divided. The image reading device further comprises an amplifier unit to amplify the output signals from the output channels, and a gain adjustment unit configured to use a maximum level of white signals outputted by the signal output unit as the output signals when the photoreceptor unit receives light from a white object to adjust a gain of amplification of the amplifier unit with respect to the output signals belonging to at least one of the regions other than a first region to which an output signal corresponding to the maximum level belongs.

摘要: A transmission line with a bending portion is provided, which line comprises any one of a coplanar line, another coplanar waveguide line formed on the dielectric substrate under which a ground layer is provided and a coplanar strip line. A chamfered portion is provided on the outer angular portion of the bending portion of the signal wiring conductor and a triangular conductor is disposed to an inner angular portion thereof. Given that length of the chamfered portion is defined as a, and length of the wiring edge side of the triangular conductor is defined as b and width of the signal wiring conductor is defined as c, it is arranged such that a is greater than b+c×square root of 2. Thereby, a transmission line or an optical module of smaller reflection loss at the bending portion thereof and of improved high-frequency characteristics is provided.

摘要: A media sensor 68 includes a cap 85 with a common opening 85b for restricting the beam spread of light emitted from a light-emitting element 82 and the range of light receivable by a light-receiving element 83, while suppressing the effects of disturbance. Accordingly, the media sensor 68 can prevent a decline in detection accuracy while using inexpensive elements with low directivity. Since the light-emitting element 82 and light-receiving element 83 are oriented perpendicularly to the paper P, the media sensor 68 is superior to sensors equipped with elements disposed at an angle to the paper P by avoiding a decline in detection accuracy caused by errors in the angular positioning of the elements, errors in angular positioning of the sensor itself, and the like, and by reducing the space required in the sensor to dispose the elements, thereby reducing the size of the sensor.

摘要: An image-reading device includes a linear image sensor and a cable. The linear image sensor is divided into, at least, first, second and third blocks. The first block is disposed adjacent to the second block. Each block reads images on an original document and generates image signals. The cable includes, at least, first, second and third signal wires corresponding to the first, second and third blocks respectively. Each signal wire transmits the image signals generated by each block. The third wire is sandwiched between the first signal wire and the second signal wire.

摘要: An optical disc recording/reproducing apparatus and a data recording method for use with such apparatus are disclosed, wherein data can be recorded on an optical disc with safety and reliably by using the so-called overburn-based recording technique. The apparatus includes an optical disc drive (1) and a optical disc drive control unit (20) for causing various instructions to be delivered to the disc drive and for causing the state information to be obtained from the disc drive, under control of the control unit (20), wherein the control unit (20) includes functional components that may be operated under control of the control unit (20), such as a memory unit (12) for storing the nominal recordable last position retrieved from the optical disc, a command issuing unit (10) for delivering trial writing instructions or commands to the disc drive, a result code obtaining unit (11) for obtaining the error information from the disc drive that indicates whether any error occurs when a particular trial writing instruction or command is performed on the disc drive, and a recordable last position setting unit (15) for determining an end burst position based on the error information and the recording position information and setting a recordable last position between the end burst position and the nominal recordable last position. The present invention allows for the use of the overburn-based recording technique that provides an additional recording time that is sufficient to permit data to be recorded with safety and reliably, regardless of any variances that exist between individual optical discs.

摘要: A bus arbiter for a group of masters and a bus access control method. An arbitration priority control section output basic priority data for each of the masters. An arbitration priority generating section is provided for each of the masters, and combines the basic priority data for the corresponding master with request indication data indicating existence or non-existing of a bus access request from corresponding master to generate arbitration priority data. An arbitration priority comparing section compares the arbitration priority data for the masters with each other to determine the arbitration priority data which has the highest priority, and outputs a comparison resultant signal containing data for specifying the master corresponding to the arbitration priority data with the highest priority. An arbitration result notifying section outputs a bus use permission signal to the corresponding master with the highest priority in response to the comparison resultant signal.
