Abstract: Techniques and methods for securing vehicle systems. For instance, an authorization system may store data representing frequencies at which destination locations are associated pick-up locations for a fleet of autonomous vehicles. The authorization system may then receive a request for an autonomous vehicle to pick up a passenger at a first location and drop off the passenger at a second location. Based on the first location and the second location, the authorization system may determine a frequency for the request. The authorization system may then determine whether a control system for the fleet of autonomous vehicles is compromised based on whether the frequency is less than or equal to a threshold frequency. If the authorization system determines that the control system is compromised, the authorization system may perform a remedial action, such as notifying a teleoperator.

Abstract: Aspects of validating information sent to and/or received by a computing device, such as a vehicle computing device, are discussed herein. A vehicle may receive information associated with a computing device, the information indicating that the computing device is authorized to provide guidance information to an autonomous vehicle. Further, the vehicle can receive a message comprising the guidance information associated with the autonomous vehicle. The vehicle can determine that the message is associated with the computing device and can evaluate the message based at least in part on configuration data associated with maneuvering the autonomous vehicle or state information associated with the autonomous vehicle. The vehicle can be controlled based at least in part on evaluating the message.

Information about the blocked region may be transmitted to one or more vehicles in the environment. Based on the information about the blocked region, at least one of the computer device or a vehicle computer system of the vehicle may control operation of the vehicle to avoid the blocked region.

Abstract: A teleoperator device may be configured to obtain a request for teleoperator assistance from a driverless vehicle and obtain teleoperator data in response to the request. The teleoperator device may also be configured to record at least some of the teleoperator input and/or guidance transmitted to the driverless vehicle based on the teleoperator input. Upon receiving a subsequent request, the teleoperator device may be configured to reproduce at least part of the former teleoperator input and/or to provide an option to activate guidance associated with the teleoperator input. The teleoperator device may also be configured to train a model and/or use a model to determine from vehicle data an option for presentation via a teleoperator interface and/or a presentation configuration of the teleoperator interface.

Abstract: Techniques for generating a driving surface cost landscape for determining costs for vehicle positions in an environment are described herein. A planning component within a vehicle may determine a non-preferred surface associated with a type of non-preferred area of an environment along a route of a vehicle, determine a preferred surface associated with a preferred area of the environment, determine an adjusted non-preferred surface by removing an overlapping area of the non-preferred surface that overlaps the preferred surface and determine a cost associated with a vehicle position based at least on the preferred surface and the adjusted non-preferred surface. The planning component may then determine a control trajectory for the autonomous vehicle based at least in part on the cost associated with the vehicle position.

Abstract: A teleoperations system that collaboratively works with an autonomous vehicle planning component to generate a path for controlling the autonomous vehicle to pass a situation where the vehicle is unable to identify a vehicle option to proceed and may comprise presenting one or more paths to a teleoperator (e.g., a human user, machine-learned model, and/or artificial intelligence component), such paths being generated either at the vehicle or remote system. The teleoperations system may receive input from the teleoperator indicating a vehicle option to select for the vehicle to proceed in the environment. The teleoperations system may generate a guidance path based on the vehicle options and the input and transmit the guidance path to the autonomous vehicle. Based at least in part on the guidance path, the autonomous vehicle may generate a control trajectory to use to navigate around the obstacle.

Abstract: Systems and methods for disengaging or engaging autonomy remotely are provided. The autonomous vehicle may receive a request from a remote computing system associated with a remote operator. The request may require the autonomous vehicle to disengage, engage, or re-engage autonomy. The autonomous vehicle may determine whether the request is valid, and whether certain safety criteria are met. Upon determining that the request is valid and safety criteria are met, the autonomous vehicle may process the request and cause the autonomous vehicle to enter the desired state. The autonomous vehicle may send a message to the remote computing system, indicating whether or not the autonomous vehicle has entered the desired state.

Abstract: A remote operations system receives a request for remote operator assistance and adds the request to a queue of additional requests. The queue may be ordered based on time of receipt, priority, criticality, and the like. The remote operations system determines a remote operator of a set of remote operators to provide a response to the request in the queue based at least in part on one or more of a status of the remote operator (e.g., indicative of availability, whether they are in training, etc.), criteria associated with the remote operator (e.g., skills in responding to various requests, preferences for a geographic area, mission types, etc.), and information associated with the request received from the vehicle (e.g., mission type, sensor data, messages, vehicle status, etc.). If the request is not accepted in a threshold period of time, the request may be rerouted to an additional remote operator.
