Abstract: A disclosed computing device capable of instantly switching over between routing engines may include (1) a packet forwarding board configured to (A) forward control traffic via a first link to a traffic replication device and (B) forward data traffic via a second link to a first routing engine, (2) the traffic replication device configured to (A) replicate the control traffic received from the packet forwarding board and (B) select control signals received from the first routing engine, (3) the first routing engine configured to receive control traffic from the traffic replication device, and (4) a second routing engine configured to receive control traffic from the traffic replication device. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: In general, techniques are described for extending network connectivity software utilities, such as traceroute, to provide complete visibility into a network topology between a source device and a destination device, even when an intermediate network device may be actively utilizing multiple network links when forwarding packets toward the destination. In one example, a network device coupled to a plurality of paths and positioned between a source network device and destination network device may receive a traceroute packet. The network device may also, for each of the plurality of paths, modify a payload of the traceroute packet to include a respective identifier for a corresponding path of the plurality of paths to construct a respective modified traceroute packet for the corresponding path. The network device may also forward the respective modified traceroute packets on the corresponding paths.

Abstract: A semiconductor package includes a first substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface, and a second substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface. The bottom surface of the first substrate is connected to the top surface of the second substrate via at least one bonding layer. The first substrate includes one or more electrically conductive components arranged on the bottom surface of the first substrate in a first pattern. The second substrate includes one or more slots arranged on the bottom surface of the second substrate in a second pattern. The one or more slots are each plated with an electrically conductive material. The arrangement of the one or more electrically conductive components in the first pattern is aligned with the arrangement of the one or more slots in the second pattern. The second substrate includes a stiffener disposed within the second substrate.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for reporting diagnostics data by a first network device to a cloud-based Wide Area Network (WAN) assurance system, responsive to the first network device detecting a communication issue with the cloud-based WAN assurance system. For example, the first network device detects an issue with sending telemetry data to the cloud-based WAN assurance system via a first communication path. In response, the first network device determines a second network device that has connectivity to the WAN assurance system. The first network device sends diagnostics data to the second network device along a second communication path for forwarding to the cloud-based WAN assurance system. The cloud-based WAN assurance system receives the diagnostics data from the second network device. The cloud-based WAN assurance system controls the second network device to remediate the first network device based on the diagnostics data.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for identifying sets of network devices to which to deploy a software upgrade based on an importance to the network of each network device. For example, a network system obtains information identifying a number of instances of an application associated with network traffic forwarded by each network device of a plurality of network devices. The instances of the application are executed by client devices serviced by each network device in forwarding the network traffic. The network system assigns each network device to different upgrade groups based on the number of instances of the application, each upgrade group associated with a different relative priority. The network system deploys a software upgrade to each network device according to a priority of the respective upgrade group relative to a priority of the other upgrade groups.

Abstract: A network device may define a container LSP that includes multiple member LSPs. Each of the multiple member LSPs defines a path from the network device through a network of a plurality of network devices. The network device may receive traffic that includes multiple packet flows. The network device may identify a first set of packet flows that are intolerant to packet reordering. The network device may identify a second set of packet flows that are tolerant to packet reordering. The network device may distribute each of the first set of packet flows to a corresponding one of the multiple member LSPs. The network device may process the second set of packet flows to determine a distribution sequence for the second set of packet flows. The network device may distribute the second set of packet flows among the multiple member LSPs based on the distribution sequence.

Abstract: A device may utilize a point-to-point protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) and a point-to-point protocol (PPP) to register the device with a core network, and may establish a first packet data unit (PDU) session with the core network based on the PPPoE and the PPP. The device may configure the first PDU session, based on the PPPoE and the PPP, to provide a first service, and may generate first keep alive messages to maintain the first PDU session. The device may establish a second PDU session with the core network based on the PPPoE and the PPP, and may configure the second PDU session based on the PPPoE and the PPP, where the second PDU session is configured to provide a second service that is different than the first service. The device may generate second keep alive messages to maintain the second PDU session.
