    Abstract: A cap, spinner, and discharge nozzle assembly for use with a liquid dispensing apparatus such as a trigger sprayer. The spinner assembly can be externally fitted to the discharge nozzle, and includes an annular chamber surrounding a central post having a swirl chamber in its top. The central post includes longitudinal grooves, communicating with tangential grooves in an annular wall defining the swirl chamber. Apertures are provided in the base of the annular chamber such that pressurized liquid flows through the apertures and into the annular chamber, with a resulting reduction of velocity, and then along the longitudinal grooves and through the tangential grooves into the swirl chamber. A cap is provided which variably engages the discharge nozzle and which has at least a central projection on the inner side of its front face, and preferably an annular groove formed by an outer projection surrounding the central projection. The central projection may reversibly seal against the floor and/or annular wall of the swirl chamber, and the annular groove may seal over the annular wall.

    Abstract: The nozzle cap, spring valve and body assembly for a trigger sprayer comprises a nozzle cap, a spring valve and a body. The nozzle cap is capable of being screwed upon the nose bushing portion of the body. The nozzle cap has an outlet orifice located in its front face and a sleeve extending rearwardly from a front wall thereof. The sleeve is threaded inside the rear portion thereof and has an internally contoured surface on a short annular formation that is located forwardly of the threads on the back side of the front wall to provide an inner annular surface and an outer annular surface rearward of an inner wall surface of the nozzle cap and forward of the internal threads inside the sleeve. The nose bushing portion of the body has a cavity in which is received the spring valve. The nozzle cap is screwed upon (threaded on) an externally threaded portion of the nose bushing portion of the body and over the spring valve and is selectively threadably positionable between three selective positions such that the positioning of the inner wall surface of the nozzle cap and the inner and outer annular surfaces of the short annular formation in the nozzle cap selectively cooperate with an outer annular periphery of a face disc of the spring valve having two angular spin-causing grooves in the annular periphery thereof and with the second inner annular surface of the nose bushing portion of the body thereby selectively to provide an OFF mode position for containment of liquid, a spray mode position to discharge liquid in a spray pattern from the outlet orifice, and a stream mode position to discharge liquid in a stream pattern from the outlet orifice.

    Abstract: A dispensing pump is adapted for pressure filling and includes a fluid filling passage which remains sealingly closed during pumping operation by the provision of an annular valve skirt in sealing engagement with a wall of the fluid filling passage, such skirt inwardly flexing during charging the container permitting the charged fluids to by-pass the valve and enter the container. The valve skirt depends from either the plunger head or from the plunger. When depending from the plunger, the valve skirt functions as a guide element for the plunger head together with a plunger head retention bead which cooperates with a pump body retention bead in limiting the upward movement of the plunger head to a predetermined extent. These guide members serve to isolate the plunger against the influence of lateral or eccentric forces applied against the plunger head during its reciprocation. And, the plunger may be capped with a wall surface defining a complementary contour to that of the upper end of the piston which it faces to facilitate expelling of product from the accumulation chamber after the end of the plunger downstroke as this surface first bottoms against the upper end of the piston.

    Abstract: An automatic dispensing cap for dispensing product contained in a squeeze-type container. A two-way valve-head comprising an upper disc closure is constructed so that it seats on the top edge of the inverted conical spout of the cap. In a preferred embodiment, the disc closure has a centrally-located air bore and depending tubular stem. Upon application of manual squeeze pressure, the valve-head unseats from the cap spout allowing product to flow through. When the squeeze pressure is released, a lower cruciform portion of the two-way valve-head acts as a spring to seat the upper disc closure, cutting off the flow of product, and allowing air to reenter the container through the central disc air bore and the tubular stem. An inverted cup-shaped check-valve closes the central air bore of the tubular stem during the dispensing phase, to prevent product from exiting therethrough. In another embodiment, primarily useful with a squeeze tube, the central disc and central stem are solid; and the check-valve is eliminated. An alternatively shaped container is disclosed which is designed to be hung in inverted position.

    Abstract: A fluid pump dispenser includes a dispenser trigger which may be located in pivotable engagement with the dispenser housing and pump piston after shipment.
