    摘要: This invention proposes a new, improved method and apparatus for applying web segments to a traveling web. Ears, or wings, are placed on a running web of disposable diapers. Because these webs are often asymmetrical or otherwise incompatible with the principle of slipping over the surface of a moving vacuum roll, the webs may float from side to side or otherwise be drawn out of square by asymmetrical forces. A vacuum groove is provided on a vacuum roll to counter these effects. Alternatively, a ridge with vacuum about the ridge is provided, also to pull a machine direction line of material into the groove or over the ridge, thereby giving the web some degree of cross-directional stability.

    摘要: A vacuum drum assembly for a printing machine comprises a drum having an array of passageways distributed along its length and around its periphery to permit air to flow from outside the drum to inside the drum in response to reduced air pressure inside the drum, and an array of valve members, each valve member being movable between a closed position in which that valve member restricts at least one of the passageways and an open position in which the restriction of that passageway or those passageways is reduced. The arrangement is such that, when a partial area of the drum is wrapped with a sheet of material, at least some of the valves for the passageways adjacent the edges of that area are open, and the valves for the passageways which are not covered by the sheet and are not adjacent the edges of that area are closed. The open area of the drum is regulated such that it is small in regions where there is no paper. Accordingly, the open area of the drum is adapted to the shape and size of the paper and the position of the paper on the drum, while minimizing the required suction flow. A duplex printing machine comprises two such vacuum drum assemblies with their drums parallel. The air pressure inside the drums is reduced and the drums are counter-rotated. Material to be printed on is fed to the first drum so that the material can be held on the first drum by vacuum and rotated therewith, and a first print head prints on one side of the material. The material is then released from the first drum in a direction towards the second drum so that the material can be held on the second drum by vacuum and rotated therewith. A second print head then prints on the material on the second drum. The material is then released from the second drum.

    摘要: An apparatus for sequentially feeding cards from the bottom of a vertical stack, which includes a card transport drum positioned below the stack so as to support the forward edge portion of the bottom of the stack. The drum includes a set of suction openings disposed transversely across the outer peripheral surface of the drum, and the openings are of oval outline. To sequentially feed the cards, the drum is rotated so that the openings move across the bottom of the lowermost card and the suction grips and holds the lowermost card on the surface of the drum, to thereby advance the lowermost card from the stack. The oval outline of the openings helps ensure that only the lowermost card is gripped and advanced by the suction openings. The apparatus also includes a vertically adjustable gate assembly mounted to overlie the forward edge of the stack and so as to define an outlet gate with respect to the drum, and a pair of rollers is mounted to the gate assembly which serves to reduce the weight of the stack at the gate.

External and internal lateral surfaces of the suction roll pneumatically communicate with each other through suction holes. A vacuum distribution device selectively puts into pneumatic communication the suction chamber with at least one row of suction holes, at determined angular positions of the tubular body and causes the processed sheet or web of paper to be sucked, and to adhere at a corresponding portion of the external lateral surface arranged between a catching point and a releasing point having determined angular positions. A displacement device moves the vacuum distribution device to change the angular position of the catching or releasing point of the web or sheet of paper.

The transfer roller includes: a roller body (20) and a plurality of adjustment devices (40) mounted in the roller body (20). The control circuit (46) controls the intensity of an electric field applied to the piezoelectric ceramic piece (44) so that the piezoelectric ceramic piece (44) undergoes deformation under the action of the electric field and the valve (42) is caused by the deformation of the piezoelectric ceramic piece (44) to selectively insert into or withdraw out of the air draw-in passages (22) so as to control flow of air drawn in by the air draw-in passages (22) and thus controlling the magnitude of a vacuum suction force induced by the air draw-in passages (22).

    摘要: To take blanks of sheets for producing laminated glass, from a cutting table, an adjustable takeoff roller onto which the sheet blanks are wound is used. To fix the beginning of the sheet blank to be taken off to the takeoff roller, openings for applying negative pressure are provided in the lateral surface of the takeoff roller. When a sheet blank is taken from the cutting table, the takeoff roller is brought into position at the beginning of the sheet blank to be taken off, the blank is fixed to the takeoff roller and the takeoff roller is then moved along the cutting table while rotating about its own axis, and so the sheet blank is wound up around the lateral surface of the takeoff roller. For laying down the sheet blank onto a glass pane during the production of laminated glass, a correspondingly reversed procedure may be used.
