摘要: A two-dimensional integral net having a nap in form of relatively long fibres which are integral with the net and protrude from the edges which surround the apertures of the net.A method of producing this net from a film is by heating selected areas of the film to a molten state and dragging out this molten material into fibres to leave apertures in the film while controlling the fibre-dragging by cooling with an air jet.

摘要: A method for decreasing the density of a substantially closed-cell thermoplastic resin foam material by the secondary expansion thereof. The method comprises increasing the gas pressure within the cells, retaining that elevated cell pressure for prolonged periods and then heating the foam material above its heat plastifying temperature to cause secondary expansion thereof. In an example, a low density polyethylene material was foamed to produce a foam with a density of approximately 0.085 grams per cubic centimeter. This foam was then pressurized with nitrogen and afterward secondarily expanded to produce a foam with a density of approximately 0.036 grams per cubic centimeter.

摘要: An ink roller and a method of producing the same are disclosed. This ink roller is produced by preheating a flexible polyurethane foam havng a three-dimensional skeletal reticulated structure and a pore size of 20-60 pores/cm at 130.degree.-190.degree. C., subjecting the preheated foam to permanent deformation through compression at a temperature of 130.degree.-220.degree. C. and a compressibility of 1/3-1/15 and cutting the resulting compression body having a hardness of 15.degree.-60.degree. into a given shape in such a manner that the axial direction is coincident with the compression direction of the compression body.

摘要: This application is directed to light-weight and hard foam materials. The foams of this invention are prepared by extruding thermoplastic crystalline plastics in the presence of highly volatile organic liquids as the foaming agents. In accordance with the present method crystalline polyolefins, in the presence of polybutadiene, ethylenevinylacetate copolymers, ethylene-propylenes and/or ethylene-propylene terpolymer rubbers, and optionally radical formers such as suitable peroxides, azidene, sulfonyl azidene or the like, and inhibitors for radical decomposition, such as triallylcyanurate or an acrylate selected from the group consisting of trimethylolpropane-trimethacrylate, allyl-methacrylate, tetrahydrofurfurylmethacrylate, triethyleneglycol-dimethacrylate, polyethyleneglycol-dimethacrylate or the like, are converted into foam-like molded bodies by means of a highly volatile organic liquid foaming agent. The foaming agent is employed in an amount of from about 5 to about 30% by weight, based on the weight of the polyolefins. The foaming agent and the polyolefins are mixed in an extruder at a temperature of from about 180.degree. to about 280.degree. C., and at a pressure which is greater than the vapor pressure of the foaming agent. The mixture is subsequently extruded.

摘要: A molded object having a sponge-like interior surrounded by a skin, molding composition from which it is produced, and the method for producing the article. Copolymers of vinyl-substituted aromatic compounds containing from 8-18 carbon atoms copolymerized with conjugated diene having from 4-12 carbon atoms and polymer chosen from among solid resinous polymers of vinyl-substituted aromatic compounds present in amounts ranging from about 10 to about 75 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer and solid resinous copolymers of ethylene present in an amount of about 5 to about 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer are blended with a sufficient amount of polarizing agent to achieve rapid heating through response to microwave treatment, blowing agent in an amount sufficient to provide a sponge-like, rubbery porosity to an article molded therefrom, and, optionally, cellular control agent. Composition is melted at a temperature that activates the blowing agent, molded, and removed from the mold as an article having a sponge-like interior surrounded by polymeric skin.

摘要: A perforated thermoplastic film with tapered capillaries which has an increased liquid flow rate through the tapered capillaries and a method for making such a film. The method includes subjecting a perforated thermoplastic film having tapered capillaries to a corona discharge treatment sufficient to increase the flow rate of liquid through said perforated film. The film made in accordance with the invention has a much higher liquid transmission rate than the perforated film of the prior art. Furthermore, the film may be treated with a corona discharge continuously as the film is being formed and perforated.

摘要: A cellular polymeric resin sheet, slab or the like is produced by filling a pressure resistant receptacle having a cover directly releasably locked thereto with a uniform mixture of a resin such as polyvinyl chloride, a finely divided heat activated first gas generator and preferably a water activated second gas generator together with other additives such as plasticizers, stabilizers, etc. The closed receptacle is heated to effect the gelation and fusion of the resin and the activation of the first gas generator to produce a high density uniform small pore cellular resin body embryo under high pressure in the receptacle. The receptacle and embryo are cooled, the receptacle opened and the embryo removed and subjected to a high humidity atmosphere, preferably at elevated temperature to activate the second gas generator and react therewith. The receptacle may be provided with passageways for the circulation of heating and cooling media and may be provided with heat transfer fins which strengthen the receptacle and is heated and cooled by immersion or exposure to hot and cold fluids. The receptacles may carry electric heating elements for their heating.
