摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for facilitating synchronization between a base station (BS) and a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system. The UE receives a synchronization signal originated by the BS. The synchronization signal is encoded with a selected cyclically permutable (CP) codeword. Encoding of the synchronization signal is facilitated by a repetitive cyclically permutable (RCP) codeword derivable from the selected CP codeword. The RCP codeword has a plurality of codeword elements each associated with a value, the value of at least one codeword element in the RCP codeword being repeated in another codeword element position in the RCP codeword. And the synchronization signal is decoded in accordance with repetitive structure of the RCP codeword.

摘要: A codeword is decoded by receiving a codeword representation that includes a plurality of soft bits and iteratively updating the soft bits. Whether each soft bit participates in at least some iterations is determined according to a selection criterion, e.g., probabilistically, or according to iteration number, or according to the soft bit's iteration history. For example, each soft bit might participate in some or all iterations with a probability that is a function of both the iteration number and a reliability measure of that soft bit. Preferably, the iterations are LDPC iterations in which variable nodes are addressed sequentially for exchanging messages with corresponding check nodes.

摘要: A method for processing data of a received frame in a receiver of a broadband wireless communication system. The received data processing method includes extracting, from control information for data of one frame having multiple bursts, burst sizes of bursts constituting the frame and modulation scheme information applied to the frame; assigning burst identifiers (IDs) used for identifying the bursts, and assigning burst partial IDs to data concatenations having concatenation sizes based on the burst sizes and the modulation scheme information; forming, in a memory, burst regions for storing the data concatenations according to the burst IDs; dividing received data of one slot included in the frame into data concatenations based on the concatenation sizes, and decoding the data concatenations; and sequentially storing the decoded data concatenations in the memory according to a burst ID and a burst partial ID corresponding to each of the decoded data concatenations.

摘要: An RDS compatible receiver has a demodulator which demodulates RDS data, a register which converts the demodulated RDS data to block data and outputs the block data, an offset generating unit which predicts and outputs an offset word of the block data based on values of a pattern match flag signal and a synchronization flag signal, an error correction processing unit which performs error correction of the block data using the predicted offset word, compares the number of error corrections with a predetermined correction threshold, determines whether the predicted offset word is right or not based on the comparison result, and outputs the pattern match flag signal based on the determination result, and a synchronization determining unit which detects whether or not the predicted offset word determined to be right matches a predetermined offset sequence pattern, determines whether RDS block synchronization is established or not, and outputs the synchronization flag signal based on the determination result.

摘要: An approach is provided for supporting signal acquisition and frame synchronization in a digital broadcast system utilizing Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes. Hierarchical modulation is utilized to provide backward compatibility, whereby the lower layer signal is encoded using LDPC coding. A signal is received, whereby the signal is modulated according to the hierarchical modulation scheme including an upper layer and a lower layer. The signal includes a data pattern and a coded frame. The dependency of the received signal on the upper layer modulation is removed. The modulation removed signal is correlated with multiple predetermined data patterns to determine the data pattern of the signal. The code rate of the coded frame is derived based on the determined data pattern. The above arrangement is particularly suited to a digital satellite broadcast system.

摘要: A method and device determines the metric value threshold used in a Viterbi synchronization evaluation circuit which enables to synchronize with a correct coding rate when multiple coding rates exist in the input signal to a Viterbi decoder. A first coding rate setting unit sets a coding rate for which the metric value threshold may need to be identified, and a second coding rate setting unit sets a coding rate other than the coding rate set by the first coding rate setting unit. A metric value threshold setting unit decreases values gradually from the maximum metric value threshold as the synchronous/asynchronous state of the Viterbi decoder is monitored by a synchronous/asynchronous monitor in order to find the minimum metric value threshold where the Viterbi decoder is not completely synchronized limit for judging asynchronicity). This minimum value is determined as the metric value threshold for the coding rate set by the first coding rate setting unit.
