    摘要: Various technologies described herein pertain to configuring an access point in a local network for operation in a community Wi-Fi network. The community Wi-Fi network includes access points in differing local networks that share respective network bandwidth capacities with member computing devices of the community Wi-Fi network. A request to join the access point to the community Wi-Fi network is transmitted from the access point to a community aggregation system. Responsive to the request, the community aggregation system transmits a firmware update to the access point. The access point installs the firmware update in memory of the access point. Moreover, responsive to installation of the firmware update, the access point can share network bandwidth capacity with the member computing devices of the community Wi-Fi network. Further, the community aggregation system supports transparent handoffs between access points in to the community Wi-Fi network.

When this electronic device transmits a request packet to another electronic device with a discovery request, the electronic device stores information specifying the discovery request. If a response packet with an answer to the discovery request is received from the other electronic device, the electronic device stores additional information included in the answer. This additional information specifies a position in an information hierarchy in the other electronic device and a data format associated with the position. By partially caching the information and the additional information, the electronic device may significantly reduce the number of request and response messages, and thus the delay, when the electronic device subsequently accesses data in the information hierarchy.

    摘要: The invention discloses a base station and a method of configuring TDD uplink-downlink subframes for base stations, and the method includes: determining a coupling loss between every two of base stations in a preset region; clustering the base stations in the preset region according to the coupling loss between every two of the base stations; and the base stations configuring TDD uplink-downlink subframes according to results of clustering, wherein the base stations in the same cluster are configured with the same TDD uplink-downlink subframe configuration, and the base stations in different clusters are configured with the same TDD uplink-downlink subframe configuration or different TDD uplink-downlink subframe configurations. The invention can lower interference across time slots due to flexible configuration of TDD subframes and optimize the performance of a TDD network system.

    摘要: Communication parameter selection techniques are presented to reduce interference in small cells of wireless networks. A list of neighboring radio access points with respect to a particular radio access point in a wireless network is obtained. The list includes a unique identifier for each neighboring radio access point. A set of candidate communications parameters are obtained for use in the wireless network by the particular radio access point. A prediction is made of candidate communications parameters in the set of candidate communications parameters which can be used by the neighboring radio access points. The communication parameters in the set of candidate communication parameters which are available for use by the particular access point are determined based on the predicted set of communications parameters. A communication parameter is selected for use by the particular radio access point based on the communication parameters determined to be available for use.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for deploying and configuring WiFi capable devices are described. A WiFi capable device such as security camera, temperature monitor and/or other device intended for use with a home network including a gateway device is preconfigured with WiFi network connection information, e.g., a network identifier such as a first SSID corresponding to a first WiFi LAN network used to supply configuration information. The gateway device is preconfigured to act as an access point for the configuration network to which the first SSID corresponds. The gateway device also supports one or more additional LAN networks, e.g., home networks which can be used for data traffic. The additional LAN networks may include an Ethernet network, a coax cable network, a powerline network and/or an additional WiFi network corresponding to a second SSID. A WiFi capable device is configured via the first network to communicate traffic data via the second network.

    摘要: The locations of nodes in a network are determined relative to the location of monitoring devices that collect trace information on the network. By appropriate sorting, filtering, and characterizing the trace information, nodes are identified as being local to or remote from each monitoring device that detects traffic to or from the node. If the trace information is insufficient to determine the relative location of a node, the node is identified as such. By identifying the nodes whose locations can be determined automatically by this analysis of the trace information, the number of nodes whose locations must be determined by more costly manual methods can be substantially reduced.
