摘要: A data set processing method for Raman spectroscopy systems using tunable lasers and multielement spectrometers compiles the spectral data set into an array and then estimates the background component, which is usually dominated by sample and optical train fluorescence, detector array dark current signal, fixed-pattern signal, and stray-light signals either modulated or non-modulated by in-path optics. This estimate is used as a baseline correction to the spectral data set to thereby isolate the sample's Raman response.

摘要: A read-out device reads out X-rays stored in phosphor layers. To improve image quality, the read-out device is controlled such that an X-ray of a first body part, e.g. of a limb, stored in a phosphor layer is read out by the read-out device controlled in a first read-out mode, and an X-ray of a second, different body part, e.g. of a thorax, stored in the phosphor layer is read out by the read-out device controlled in a second read-out mode. The scan parameters of the read-out device set in the first read-out mode are different from the scan parameters set in the second read-out mode in at least one scan parameter. The scan parameters include, but are not limited to, the size of the pixels, the intensity and/or the width of a focus range of stimulation light on the phosphor layer, the sampling rate of a detector, and a speed of the phosphor layer in relative movement to the read-out device.

摘要: The contrast of an image is enhanced by converting the digital signal representation of the image according to a conversion function that is derived from a parameterized conversion function q(x) by giving specific values to the parameters of the function. Specific values for parameters that depend on the examination type to which the image relates are exclusively derived from the digital signal representation itself. No input of examination type dependent parameters is required.

摘要: A phase contrast x-ray microscope has a phase plate that is placed in proximity of and attached rigidly to the objective to form a composite optic. This enables easier initial and long-term maintenance of alignment of the microscope. In one example, they are fabricated on the same high-transmissive substrate. The use of this composite optic allows for lithographic-based alignment that will not change over the lifetime of the instrument. Also, in one configuration, the phase plate is located between the test object and the objective.

摘要: A test probe for a finger tester for the testing of non-componented circuit boards has a test needle with a probe tip which may be brought into contact with a circuit board test point, and which may be pivotably attached to a mount by means of at least two flexible sprung retaining arms. It is distinguished by the fact that at least one of the retaining arms is made of an electrically conductive material and is electrically connected to the test needle. In a corresponding finger tester, the test probe is driven by a linear motor.

摘要: A number of sensors are distributively deployed in a network, either integrally disposed in a number of routing devices of the network or externally disposed and coupled to the routing devices, to monitor and report on network traffic routed through the routing devices. A director is provided to receive network traffic reports from the sensors for the routing devices, and to determine whether moderating actions are to be taken to moderate an amount of network traffic, based at least in part on some of the network traffic reports received from the sensors. In one embodiment, upon determining moderating actions are to be taken, the director further determines what kind of moderating actions are to be taken, including where the moderating actions are to be taken. In one embodiment, the director further instructs appropriate ones of the sensors to cause the desired moderating actions to be applied on the network traffic going through some of the routing devices. In one embodiment, the director, in cooperation with the sensors, also determines when and where moderating actions are to be relaxed, and causes such relaxation to be effectuated. In yet another embodiment, the director, in cooperation with the sensors, also determines when and where regulating actions filtering out certain types of network traffic destined for a network node are to be applied, and causes such filtering to be performed.

摘要: A scintillated CCD detector system for imaging x rays uses x-rays having a photon energy in the range of 1 to 20 keV. The detector differs from existing systems in that it provides extremely high resolution of better than a micrometer, and high detection quantum efficiency of up to 95%. The design of this detector also allows it to function as an energy filter to remove high-energy x-rays. This detector is useful in a wide range of applications including x-ray imaging, spectroscopy, and diffraction. The scintillator optical system has scintillator material with a lens system for collecting the light that is generated in the scintillator material. A substrate is used for spacing the scintillator material from the lens system.

摘要: The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for investigating layers (1) of tissues in living animals using a microscope (2). The microscope (2) is focused onto a layer (1), and images of the layer (1) are acquired or optical measurements are performed on it. Positional changes of the layer (1) are brought about by movements of the animal or of its organs. The positional changes are sensed, and corresponding signals are generated. The signals are stored, together with the corresponding images or measurement results, for later evaluation; or they are processed in such a way that the positional changes are compensated for in order to investigate the layer (1). As a result, the layer (1) can be qualitatively or quantitatively investigated microscopically, irrespective of the movement of the animal or its organs.

摘要: A device for influencing an electron beam, in particular a beam deflector (10), comprises a cylindrical support body (11) with an axial passage (12) through which the beam can propagate and axially spaced sets of coils (14) supported by the body and operable by electrical energy to produce electromagnetic fields for deflection of the beam. The device includes a cooling system for counteracting temperature rise in the body (11) due to operation of the coils (14). The system comprises a pipe (15) of compliant material extending helically around and thermally conductively coupled, preferably adhesively bonded, to the support body (11) and serving to conduct liquid coolant for heat exchange with the body (11) over substantially all the external circumferential surface thereof. The cooling system further includes a pump (16) for conveying the coolant through the pipe (15) in a generally laminar flow so that, in conjunction with the flow path and pipe material, generation of vibrations is largely avoided and any vibrations that are generated are absorbed by the pipe (15) rather than transmitted to the body (11).
