Abstract:
A method and device for monitoring toner transfer within an image forming device is described herein. A reflectivity sensor senses movement of a toner transfer gear operatively connected to a toner transfer system. A threshold unit generates a dynamic threshold based on the output of the reflectivity sensor. In one embodiment, the threshold unit generates the dynamic threshold based on a time delayed average of the sensor output. An instantaneous sensor output is compared to the dynamic threshold. Based on the comparison, the device determines the how much the toner transfer gear has rotated, and therefore, how much toner has been transferred from the toner cartridge.
Abstract:
Provided are a method, system, and program for receiving a request to remove a record. A determination is made as to whether a state associated with the record includes at least one hold state and whether the state associated with the record includes at least a retention period that has not expired. The request to remove the record is denied in response to determining that the state associated with the record includes at least one of at least one hold state and one retention period that has not expired.
Abstract:
Provided are a method, system, and program for archiving files. A hierarchical file system having directories is provided. An archival retention policy is associated with at least one of the directories in the hierarchical file system, wherein the retention policy applies to files included in the associated directory, and wherein the retention policy specifies a retention time indicating a time period during which a file is subject to the retention policy.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method is disclosed for regulating the cold spot temperature of a light emitting enclosure. A cold spot regulation system defines and controls the temperature of the cold spot. The cold spot regulation system includes an interface housing secured to the light emitting enclosure and two ducts extending from the interface housing. The cold spot regulation system uses a coolant fluid to lower the operating temperature of the light emitting enclosure. The coolant fluid is diverted into one of the ducts. The coolant fluid is passed by the cold spot of the light emitting enclosure and released out the other duct.

A ducted fan gas turbine engine power plant has an augmenter air intake and a flow mixer for selectively mixing the augmenter air with the remaining engine flows.
Abstract:
Disclosed are various embodiments for scalable workflow processing. To this end, a workflow instance is placed in a queue accessible to a processor-based system, the queue being associated with a workflow. A workflow history associated with the workflow instance is applied to a decision application in response to a poll from the decision application, where the decision application is configured to determine a next action to be taken for the workflow instance. The next action to be taken for the workflow instance is initiated in the processor-based system based on a directive from the decision application generated based on the workflow history.
Abstract:
Provided is a novel iridium catalyst complex which is useful in the dehydrogenation of alkanes. The iridium complex comprises the metal iridium atom complexed with a benzimidazolyl-containing ligand. The iridium atom can be coordinated with the nitrogen atoms in the benzimidazolyl-containing ligand to form an NCN pincer ligand complex. In another embodiment, the iridium catalyst is used, with or without a co-catalyst, in a dehydrogenation reaction converting alkanes to olefins. The reaction can be in a closed or open system, and can be run in a liquid or gaseous phase.
Abstract:
Provided is a process for preparing oligomers from an alkane. The process comprises (a) contacting an alkane under dehydrogenation conditions in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst such as an iridium catalyst complex comprising iridium complexed with a benzimidiazolyl-containing ligand to form olefins, and (b) contacting the olefins prepared in step (a) under oligomerization conditions with an oligomerization catalyst such as a nickel, platinum or palladium metal catalyst complex comprising the metal complexed with a nitrogen containing bi- or tridentate ligand to prepare oligomers of the olefins, and hydrogenating the olefin oligomers. In one embodiment, the ligands of the catalyst complexes in step (a) and step (b) can be the same.
Abstract:
A broker may be used as an intermediary to exchange messages between producers and consumers. The broker may store and dispatch messages from a physical queue stored in a persistent memory. More specifically, the broker may enqueue messages to the physical queue that are received from producers and may dispatch messages from the physical queue to interested consumers. The broker may further utilize one or more logical queues stored in transient memory to track the status of the messages stored in persistent memory. As messages are dispatched to and acknowledged by interested consumers, the broker deletes acknowledged messages from the physical queue. The messages deleted are those preceding a physical ACKlevel pointer that specifies the first non-acknowledged message in the physical queue. The physical ACKlevel pointer is advanced in the physical queue based on the relative position of corresponding logical ACKlevel pointers maintained by the logical queues.
