Abstract: Systems and methods for manufacturing objects are provided herein. In some embodiments, a system includes a printer assembly configured to perform an additive manufacturing process with a curable material, at least one sensor, and a material removal device. The system can be configured to form an object portion from the curable material using the printer assembly. The system can be configured to generate sensor data of the object portion using the at least one sensor, and determine whether an error is present in the object portion based on the sensor data. In response to a determination that the error is present in the object portion, the system can be configured to remove a region of the object portion containing the error using the material removal device.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and systems for modeling teeth. Methods include generating a clinical crown mesh including visible surfaces of a clinical crown of a tooth; generating a parametric tooth model representing an average of multiple etalon teeth of the same tooth type; fitting the clinical crown mesh with the parametric tooth model to create an interim tooth model; and morphing the interim tooth model to mimic an anatomical shape of the clinical crown mesh. Fitting the clinical crown mesh with the parametric tooth model includes coupling point pairs on surfaces of the clinical crown mesh and the parametric tooth model, where a weighting factor is assigned to each point of the clinical crown mesh or parametric tooth model, and transforming the point pairs according to their weighting factors to cause the point pairs to converge.

Abstract: A processing device receives a plurality of intraoral scans of a dental arch. The processing device determines, from the plurality of intraoral scans, a first set of intraoral scans that depict a restorative object and a second set of intraoral scans that fail to depict any restorative object. The processing device generates a multi-resolution three-dimensional model of the dental arch, wherein a first portion of the multi-resolution three-dimensional model is generated from the first set of intraoral scans, has a first resolution and represents the restorative object, and wherein a second portion of the multi-resolution three-dimensional model is generated from the second set of intraoral scans, has a second resolution and represents a remainder of the dental arch, wherein the first resolution is greater than the second resolution.

Abstract: Systems and methods for performing automated quality control for 3D printed molds for orthodontic aligners are described. A method includes generating a plurality of images of the 3D printed mold for the orthodontic aligner using one or more imaging devices, wherein each image of the plurality of images depicts a distinct region of the 3D printed mold for the orthodontic aligner; processing the plurality of images by a processing device to identify one or more types of manufacturing defects of the 3D printed mold for the orthodontic aligner, wherein for each type of manufacturing defect a probability that an image comprises a defect of that type of manufacturing defect is determined; and classifying, by the processing device, the 3D printed mold for the orthodontic aligner as defective based on identifying the one or more types of manufacturing defects.

Abstract: In embodiments, a processing device generates a three-dimensional model of a dental site from scan data, the three-dimensional model comprising a representation of a tooth, wherein a portion of the three-dimensional model comprises an interfering surface that obscures a portion of the tooth. The processing device receives or generates an image of the tooth, wherein the image depicts the interfering surface. The processing device processes the image to generate a modified image, wherein the portion of the tooth that was obscured by the interfering surface in the image is shown in the modified image. The processing device updates the three-dimensional model of the dental site by replacing, using the modified image, the portion of the three-dimensional model that comprises the interfering surface that obscures the portion of the tooth, wherein the portion of the tooth that was obscured in the three-dimensional model is shown in an updated three-dimensional model.
