    摘要: The invention applies the economies of scale to data processing and provides automated methods of collecting, categorizing, indexing, storing and retrieving large amounts of data from a wide variety of sources. The invention discloses the use of location and industry templates to categorize documents and other data objects. Location and industry data for each document is translated into a set of assignment numerals that are used to create a header number. Each document or data object is indexed and stored in a data warehouse in accordance with the header number. Subsequently, documents and data objects are retrieved from the data warehouse using the index of header numbers and the location and industry templates.

    摘要: An apparatus for use in controlling the temperature of one or more substances passing through one or more microfluidics channels in an analysis device is set forth. The apparatus comprises a heating unit having first and second surfaces. The first surface of the heating unit is constructed so that it is at least partially exposed for cooling of the heating unit. The apparatus also comprises a thermally conductive medium that is disposed proximate the second surface of the heating unit. The one or more microfluidics channels are disposed in the thermally conductive medium. In one embodiment, the one or more microfluidics channels are in the form of a plurality of capillary columns, such as those used in instruments for capillary electrophoresis. Each capillary columns is substantially surrounded by the material forming the thermally conductive medium. In another embodiment, the thermally conductive medium, along with the corresponding plurality of capillary columns, can be easily disengaged from the heating unit in a non-destructive manner thereby allowing the heating unit to be reused.

    摘要: A method of applying a refractory coating to densified foundry sand cores having micropores between the sand grains having the steps of: (a) mixing a dry powder refractory material (anhydrous MmgOSiO2 talc) with a dry powder impacting media, the refractory material having a particle size in the range of 5-40 microns and the weight ratio between the refractory material and the impacting media; (b) fluidizing the mixture in a contained zone by introducing positive air pressure at one end of the zone and applying a negative pressure at the other end of the zone; and (c) quickly and entirely immersing the sand cores in the zone containing the fluidized mixture and substantially immediately thereafter withdrawing (without reciprocal movement) such sand cores without the need for added motion to be coated with essentially only the refractory material as impacted by the impacting media. The cores will be coated continuously with the refractory material, impacted with the micropores of the sand core.

    摘要: Display panels having at least one suspended fibrous cathode containing an electron field emitter are disclosed. The fibrous cathode is supported by a substrate (10) containing two sets of parallel rows of crests and valleys. The first set of parallel crests (11) and valleys (12) provide the valleys along which the fibrous cathode is aligned. The second set of parallel crests (13) and valleys (14) is perpendicular to the first set. The valleys (14) provide the means for suspending the fibrous cathode. The display panels can be produced in large sizes while still maintaining high quality and efficiency.

    摘要: A high optical quality corner is produced on a cleaved crystal which may include a stripe or surface optical waveguide by making a fracture initiation mark along only a portion of the surface intercept of the desired cleavage plane with a first of two major surfaces of the crystal and then tensioning the first major surface of the crystal to fracture the crystal along the desired cleavage plane beginning at the fracture initiation mark. This produces a high optical quality corner along a portion of the intersection of the newly cleaved surface with the major surface of the crystal. This high optical quality corner is located where no fracture initiation mark was made and enables the crystal to be used in as-cleaved form for end-fire coupling between its waveguide and an external waveguide such as an optical fiber.

    摘要: A solar array positioning system includes first light sensor means facing the same direction as the solar array and second light sensor means facing the opposite direction. A third sensor, this one responsive to gravity, is employed to indicate the direction about a diurnal slew axis that the array is tilted. These sensors are employed to determine the initial array slewing direction to insure that during slewing and subsequent tracking, the array never is rotated through more than a given angle, less than 360.degree., between two fixed limits. This permits connection to the array by hard wiring rather than slip rings. The system includes also fourth sensor means for providing fine tracking signals which assume control of the array position during tracking. A vane structure reduces the sensitivity of various of the sensors to obscuration by foreign particles. A low cost uncorrected lens may be used with the fourth.
