Abstract:
A method of operating a fuser for duplex printing includes equilibrating the fuser roll surface temperatures by rotating the rolls at a speed faster than the process speed between fusing an image on a first side of the media and fusing an image on a second side of the media.
Abstract:
A dual roll to move two separate media sheets simulatneously along a section of a media path. The dual roll includes a first path formed by a first nip, and a second path formed by a second nip. A drive roll forms a section of both nips. Methods of using the dual roll are also disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises rotating the drive roll to move a first sheet in a first direction and simultaneously moving a second sheet in a second direction.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a device having an arm and a sensor that can differentiate two events. The arm is pivotally mounted to move in different directions upon the occurrence of different events. A section of the arm includes a trigger section having an unequal distribution of a sensed characteristic. A first event moves the arm in a first direction that is sensed by the sensor in a first manner. A second event moves the arm in a second direction that is sensed by the sensor in a second manner. The sensor signals a controller that oversees the image forming process. Methods of operating the arm and sensor are disclosed for detecting the two separate events, and signaling the controller accordingly.
Abstract:
A removable media tray for an image forming apparatus includes a housing, an exit port in the housing, a primary media stack, and a multi-purpose tray (MPT) input. Within the tray are first and second pick mechanisms operative to select a media sheet from the primary stack or MPT stack, respectively, and move the media sheet to the image forming apparatus through the exit port. A motor is disposed within the tray housing, and first and second drive assemblies operatively connect the motor to the first and second pick mechanisms, respectively. The motor drives the first pick mechanism forward by rotating in one direction, and drives the second pick mechanism forward by rotating in the opposite direction. A media sensor in the exit port senses media sheets from a variety of sources, including the primary media stack, the MPT stack, a duplex return path, or a large-capacity media sheet supply.
Abstract:
A modified serum albumin is provided which has been modified in the n-terminal region or binding region VI, such as through a truncation of at least three amino acids at the n-terminal end, so that it exhibits reduced or eliminated binding of trace metals such as nickel and/or copper. Other suitable modifications to this binding region include mutations such as an elongation or insertion which will be sufficient to disrupt the trace metal binding which is highest at this site. The modified albumin of the present invention is advantageous in that its binding to trace metals is reduced or eliminated, and it can thus be used more safely and effectively than unmodified albumin with a reduced or eliminated likelihood of causing an allergic reaction to the trace metal in the human being treated with the albumin composition.
Abstract:
A cellular network having an radio frequency (RF) management capability includes a mobile switching center, at least one base station controller operative coupled to the mobile switching center, and at least one base station operatively coupled to the at least one base station controller. The at least one base station is for being operatively coupled with at least one mobile station for carrying out at least one mobile communications call. Lastly, a radio frequency manager is operatively coupled to the at least one base station, in conjunction with the at least one mobile station. The RF manager is further for managing a handoff upon the occurrence of a prescribed event, the handoff including a handoff-to-self via a simultaneous base station radio and mobile station frequency transition.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatuses for generating an ionizing electromagnetic field via a remote plasma source such that the field controllably extends through a field projection portion where the field attenuates, to a plasma processing portion where the field is attenuated but still strong enough to sustain a plasma. The plasma has a low voltage and RF energy and can be used for a variety of semiconductor and thin film processing operations including chamber cleaning via radical generation, etching, and deposition.
Abstract:
A pre-prosthetic training device is provided. The device provides an interim prosthetic device that aids in the standing, weight bearing, and balancing exercises during post-surgery rehabilitation therapy that are required before a prosthesis fitting. The device includes a residual limb support for receiving the residual limb of an amputee, an adjustable pylon for adjusting the height of the residual limb support, and a support base including a plurality of support legs for providing support to the pylon and residual limb support. The residual limb support includes a cushion having a recessed portion sized to receive the distal end of the residual limb of an amputee and for providing comfort and stability thereto. The residual limb support further includes an upper open end and a sidewall including a tapering portion that provides vertical and lateral access, respectively, of a residual limb into the residual limb support.
Abstract:
A magazine-based data storage library in connection with a disk drive-based archive storage system is described that essentially generates parity data for tape formatted data streams (stored to tape cartridges) that do not align by way of data blocks or file marks. Data streams intended for tape storage sent to tape cartridges are also sent to a disk drive storage system via an encoder where parity of the data streams can be generated. More specifically, the encoder digitally formats tape blocks and tape marks (as well as other tape formatted structure) in a digital stream of data that can be added to other encoded digital streams of data to generate parity. To reconstruct a specific tape cartridge from a tape set, the encoded data from each of the tapes in the tape set are subtracted from the parity data and the remaining encoded data is decoded and sent to a designated tape cartridge.
