Abstract:
A method for operating a laser system for a medical procedure, or a similar system, comprises detecting presence of a portable memory device like a smart card coupled to the laser system, and reading data on the portable memory device usable to identify an associated delivery device. An identifier is read from the associated delivery device after it is coupled to the laser. A process is executed to verify the configuration including matching the identifier read from delivery device with the delivery device associated with the portable memory device, verifying that the portable memory device includes a data structure adapted for storage of an event log, and enabling delivery of laser energy if said authenticating and said verifying are successful. A kit comprising a delivery device and a portable memory device supporting the process is provided to users of the laser system.
Abstract:
A method and system are described for providing a streamlined method for using, for example, streaming media samples to promote and sell music, videos and related merchandise on the Internet in response to searches for entertainment related information. When a consumer enters an Internet search query that includes a Media Keyword, a corresponding media sample or sample set is identified for the consumer to select to receive as a stream or download onto the Consumer Device, along with search results pertaining to the requested information and purchasing options. The media sample or sample set is provided as a link in a web page containing search results generated for the consumer. The media sample link may be indicated on the web page as a preferred, personalized or sponsored search result.
Abstract:
A method and system of controlling auto-ignition timing in an internal combustion engine cylinder in which the timing of auto-ignition in prechambers that are coupled to the cylinder is precisely controlled. The auto-ignition in the prechambers produces hot gas jets that are introduced into the charge space of the cylinder and rapidly induce a second auto-ignition of the mixture in the cylinder. By precisely controlling the timing of the auto-ignitions within the prechambers, the timing of the auto-ignition within the cylinders can, in turn, be precisely controlled.
Abstract:
A system for generating an animal feed formulation based on utilization of nutrients received by an animal. The system includes a simulator engine configured to generate a set of animal requirements based on characteristics of an animal and to generate animal feed formulation input based at least in part on a projected nutrient utilization for the animal and the set of animal requirements. The system further includes a formulator engine configured to receive the animal feed formulation input and generate an optimized animal feed formulation based on the animal feed formulation input.
Abstract:
An exploration technique allows a router to efficiently determine capabilities and configuration of a neighbor (peer) router. In addition, the technique enables peer routers of an adjacency to negotiate a capability “outside” of a protocol, such as a routing protocol, before a routing session is established between the routers. In this context, the term “outside” of the protocol denotes that there is no field within a protocol packet (message) implementation that can be used to negotiate the capability. Moreover, the inventive technique obviates the need to manually configure a router to support a particular capability and interoperate correctly within a network of routers that both support and are unaware of the capability.
Abstract:
A method and system of controlling auto-ignition timing in an internal combustion engine cylinder in which the timing of auto-ignition in prechambers that are coupled to the cylinder is precisely controlled. The auto-ignition in the prechambers is produced by a compression stroke using pistons situated within the prechambers. Hot gas jets produced by the prechamber auto-ignitions are introduced into the charge space of the cylinder and rapidly induce a second auto-ignition of the mixture in the cylinder. By precisely controlling the timing of the auto-ignitions within the prechambers, the timing of the auto-ignition within the cylinders can, in turn, be precisely controlled.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel azeotrope-like compositions of 1-bromopropane, 4-methoxy-1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4-nonafluorobutane (HFE-7100) and at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, 2-methyl-2-propanol, tetrahydrofuran, nitromethane, and methylene chloride and more particularly to azeotrope-like compositions based on these compounds which are useful as solvents in refrigeration flushing, oxygen system cleaning and vapor degreasing applications.
Abstract:
A vessel, or an array of vessels, in the form of a multiwell plate, wherein the side walls are opaque and non-scintillant, and wherein the base comprises a scintillant substance, said base being formed of a plastics material which does not permit the attachment or growth of cells.
