    摘要: A device for penetrating tissue and removing a biological sample includes a biological sampling element to remove a biological sample. The biological sampling element includes a passage therethrough. The device further includes a penetrator positioned within the passage. The penetrator is energized in a repetitive manner to assist in penetrating tissue. The biological sample element can be adapted to remove a tissue sample or a biological fluid sample (for example, blood). A device for penetrating tissue and positioning a tissue resident conduit (for example, a catheter), includes a tissue resident conduit (for example, a catheter) including a passage therethrough; and a penetrator in operative connection with the catheter. A device for inserting a tissue resident conduit includes at least one component that is energized during penetration to assist in penetrating tissue. In one embodiment, the tissue resident conduit is flexible and the energized component is positioned or a forward end of the tissue resident conduit. The device can further include a mechanism for directing the penetration of the tissue resident conduit. A needle for penetrating tissue includes a first effector including a surface and at least one actuator in operative connection with the first effector. The actuator is adapted to cause motion of the first effector such that tearing of tissue takes place in regions where there is close proximity of tissue to the surface of the first effector.

    摘要: An antenna coupling enables communication across a barrier to radio frequencies. The antenna coupling comprises first and second antennas. The first antenna is adapted for positioning on a first side of the barrier, and is capable of receiving from and transmitting to a first transceiver disposed on the first side. The second antenna is adapted for positioning on a second side of the barrier, and is capable of receiving from and transmitting to a second transceiver on the second side. The interconnection of the first and second antennas through the barrier comprises the antenna coupling. The antenna coupling enables the first and second transceivers to communicate across the barrier over the desired range(s) of radio frequencies. In a related aspect, the antenna coupling may also include a filter interconnected between the first and second antennas to prevent radio frequencies outside of the desired range(s) from being transmitted across the barrier.

    摘要: An adapter for use with a powered injector imparts agitating motion to a syringe, which is connectable to the powered injector. The powered injector includes a drive member to impart motion to a plunger slidably disposed within the syringe. The adapter includes an injector attachment mechanism to attach the adapter to the powered injector and a syringe interface to attach the syringe to the adapter. The adapter preferably further includes an intermediate drive member having a drive attachment to attach the intermediate drive member to the drive member of the powered injector and a plunger attachment member to attach the intermediate drive member to the syringe plunger. The intermediate drive member is operable to translate motion of the drive member of the powered injector to the syringe plunger. The adapter also includes at least one powered agitator to provide agitating motion the syringe interface.
