Abstract: A first allocation of physical resources for uplink transmission is received over a downlink signaling channel. Data of a logical channel is received. A first block is transmitted over the first allocated physical resources in response to receipt of the data of the logical channel. A timer is initiated in response to transmission of the first block. In response to an expiration of the timer and not receiving a second allocation of physical resources, a first type of request from a plurality of types of requests is selected and the selected first type of request for the second allocation of physical resources is transmitted over an uplink signaling channel. The second allocation of physical resources is received in response to the transmitted first type of request. A second block is transmitted in response to the second allocation of physical resources over the second allocated physical resources.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SFBC) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed loop mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CSI on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute eigenbeams to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Additionally, the power loading may be performed across subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigenmodes.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for dynamic resource allocation, scheduling and signaling for variable data real time services (RTS) in long term evolution (LTE) systems. Preferably, changes in data rate for uplink RTS traffic are reported to an evolved Node B (eNB) by a UE using layer 1, 2 or 3 signaling. The eNB dynamically allocates physical resources in response to a change in data rate by adding or removing radio blocks currently assigned to the data flow, and the eNB signals the new resource assignment to the UE. In an alternate embodiment, tables stored at the eNB and the UE describe mappings of RTS data rates to physical resources under certain channel conditions, such that the UE uses the table to locally assign physical resources according to changes in UL data rates. Additionally, a method and apparatus for high level configuration of RTS data flows is also presented.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing medium access control (MAC) protocol data units (PDUs) are disclosed. A controller may, on a Transmission Time Interval (TTI) basis, select a size of a MAC service data unit (SDU) for each of a plurality of logical channels based on information provided by a MAC layer. The controller may then provide a respective first value for each logical channel. Further, the controller may select logical channels for a MAC PDU based on a respective priority of each of the logical channels and on the respective first value of each of the logical channels being greater than zero. Also, the controller may multiplex the MAC SDUs of the selected logical channels to produce the MAC PDU. In addition, the controller may provide a transport block for transmission based on the MAC PDU. The controller and a transmitter may then transmit the provided transport block.

The real-time shadowing service may also generate alerts based on detection rules, E.L. and C.L., and transmit the alerts.

Abstract: The invention performs long term evolution (LTE) tracking area updates (TAUs), and tracking area code (TAC) and public land mobile network identification (PLMN-ID) assisted optimized wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) cell reselection. An evolved Node-B broadcasts system information including at least one system information block (SIB) based at least in part on an enhanced universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) parameter response message sent by an evolved packet core (EPC) network. A WTRU generates a new TAC, which represents a tracking area identification (TA-ID) of a new cell, based on the system information, and compares the new TAC to an existing TAC, which represents a TA-ID of a previous cell. The WTRU transmits to the EPC network a TAU request message including the TA-ID of the new cell. The EPC network sends either a TAU accept message or a TAU reject message to the WTRU.

Abstract: A method and system for providing control information for supporting high speed downlink and high speed uplink packet access are disclosed. A Node-B assigns at least one downlink control channel and at least one uplink control channel to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The downlink control channel and the uplink control channel are provided to carry control information for both the downlink and the uplink. Conventional control channels, for downlink and uplink are combined into a reduced set of control channels for uplink and downlink. The Node-B and the WTRU communicate control information via the downlink control channel and the uplink control channel. The WTRU receives downlink data and transmits uplink data, and the Node-B receives uplink data and transmits downlink data based on the control information transmitted via the downlink control channel and the uplink control channel.
