Abstract: Systems, methods, and mechanisms for a privacy enhanced basic service set (BSS), including privacy enhancements for both access points and wireless stations as well as privacy enchantments for authentication, association, and discovery operations. Further, the systems, methods, and mechanisms disclosed may continue to support legacy wireless stations and are thus, backward compatible. A non-associated PE station may receive, from a PE access point, one or more discovery beacons advertising PE BSSs hosted by the PE access point and transmit, to the PE access point, a request to setup pre-association security protection. The non-associated PE station may, upon setup of pre-association security protection, transmit, to the PE access point, a protected request frame and receive, from the PE access point, a protected response that includes PE access point parameters.

Abstract: A controller device within a home network (or any suitable network) can be configured to manage network access tokens for various accessory devices within the home network. These network access tokens can be used by the accessory devices to access the home network without needing the network owner's network password. The network access tokens can be revocable and/or for a limited time. The controller device can generate the network access tokens, and can provide them to the accessory devices (or other user devices) as well as to an access device on the home network. Once the access device is provisioned with the accessory device's network access token, the router can control whether the accessory device is to be granted access to the home network and for how long.

Abstract: This application relates to electronic devices configured to connect to a wireless local area network and communicate using a trigger-based access mechanism. An access point is configured to manage the wireless local area network. The access point includes a processing subsystem configured to select a channel associated with a communications medium for communicating with the set of electronic devices. The processing subsystem is also configured to monitor the channel to detect interference from radio frequency sources not connected to the wireless local area network, receive channel information for at least one additional channel associated with the communications medium from the electronic devices, and configure an interface circuit of the access point to communicate with the set of electronic devices on a new channel based, at least in part, on the channel information. Each electronic device can be configured to collect the channel information and transmit the channel information to the access point for analysis.

Abstract: One or more wireless stations may operate to configure Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN)—direct communication with neighboring wireless stations, e.g., without utilizing an intermediate access point. Scheduling of NAN ranging procedures may include a first wireless station sending first information, including first scheduling preferences and a first ranging role, to a second wireless station. The first wireless station receives second information, including second scheduling preferences and a second ranging role, from the second wireless station. The first wireless station may initiate the ranging procedure based on the scheduling preferences and ranging parameters. Alternatively, the second wireless station and may initiate the ranging procedure based on the scheduling preferences and ranging parameters.

Abstract: This application relates to electronic devices configured to connect to a wireless local area network and communicate using a trigger-based access mechanism. An access point is configured to define a contention-free period associated with a communications medium utilized by the wireless local area network. During the contention-free period, the access point allocates transmission opportunities to each of a number of electronic devices by transmitting trigger frames to the electronic devices via the communications medium. Each trigger frame can be directed to a particular electronic device and indicates to that electronic device that the current transmission opportunity has been allocated to that electronic device to transmit data (e.g., frames) to the access point via the communications medium. The access point implements an algorithm for allocating two or more transmission opportunities within a contention-free period to two or more corresponding electronic devices.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for synchronizing the switching of different wireless platforms to different portions of a frequency band. An embodiment, at a first wireless platform, operates by receiving a band switch request message from a second wireless platform, wherein the band switch request message comprises a band switch delay period for the second wireless platform. The embodiment calculates a band switch time based on a band switch delay period for the first wireless platform and the band switch delay period for the second wireless platform. The embodiment transmits a band switch accept message comprising the band switch time to the second wireless platform. The embodiment sets a first filter to operate on a second portion of the frequency band based on the band switch time. The embodiment then operates on the second portion of the frequency band.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to, among other things, improving data security with respect to data collection, verification, and authentication techniques associated with obtaining and transmitting identity information. For example, an identification credential may be received (e.g., via a short-range communications protocol such as iBeacon) by a first device from a second device. The credential may be associated with a second user of the second device. The first device may verify the credential and, if valid, an additional option to approve a secure communications channel may be presented at the first device. If the additional option is selected, a secure communications channel may be established between the first device and the second device.

Abstract: An electronic device that determines a transmission schedule is described. This electronic device may include an interface circuit that communicates with a recipient electronic device. During operation, the electronic device may receive a frame with scheduling-request information that is associated with the recipient electronic device. The scheduling-request information may include a buffer status report for persistent traffic, and the frame may be compatible with an IEEE 802.11 communication protocol. For example, the frame may include a scheduling-request management frame. Alternatively, the frame may include a data frame and the scheduling-request information may be included in a media access control (MAC) frame header, such as a high-efficiency (HE) variant high-throughput (HT) control header. Then, the electronic device may determine the transmission schedule based at least in part on the scheduling-request information.

Abstract: In some embodiments, one or more wireless stations operate to configure Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN)—direct communication between neighboring wireless stations, e.g., without utilizing an intermediate access point. Embodiments of the disclosure relate to NAN datapath configuration. The NAN datapath embodiments described herein provide a mechanism through which devices can communicate and provide services. Aspects of the datapath development include datapath scheduling, including datapath setup and scheduling attributes, scheduler rank management, and further NAN discovery. The datapath model may be implemented for unicast and multicast communication between wireless stations.
