    摘要: Disclosed is an LCD having an adaptive luminance intensifying function and driving method thereof. A timing controller checks features of externally provided image data, and when they are found to be moving pictures, it determines a luminance level required from the image data and outputs a luminance level control signal, and when they are found to be still images, outputs a predetermined luminance signal. A backlight driver outputs a high-potential backlight driving voltage to the backlight unit when a luminance control signal of high-luminance level driving is provided by the timing controller, and outputs a constant level luminance signal when a constant luminance signal is input. As a result, by selecting a plurality of portions of the displayed screen and tracking and monitoring the changes of the image data, features of the images are defined and application conditions of the luminance intensifying function are determined to control the luminance level of the backlight and outputs of gamma voltage levels. Accordingly, the contrast of a display screen is improved and the power consumption is reduced.

    摘要: In the provided liquid crystal display apparatus, a first switching element receives a first data signal and a second switching element receives a second data signal having a polarity opposite that of the first data signal. A first pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first switching element to receive the first data signal and a second pixel electrode is electrically connected to the second switching element to receive the second data signal. The second pixel electrode faces the first pixel electrode and is electrically insulated from the first pixel electrode. A liquid crystal layer has liquid crystal molecules aligned in response to the first and second data signals applied to the first and second pixel electrodes, respectively. Thus, the liquid crystal display apparatus may prevent afterimages on a screen thereof and a flickering phenomenon.

    摘要: A drive controller for an electrophoretic display includes a data driver for applying image-altering drive signals to selected ones of a plurality of pixels where the driver includes: a memory unit for storing an alteration progress indicator and a target state indicator. In each of predetermined time spans such as successive display frames, image-altering drive signals are applied and the corresponding progress indicators are updated to reflect the application of the image-altering drive signals in the predetermined time spans. When the progress indicators indicate that the image-altering jobs are finished, the driver stops applying the image-altering drive signals to the respective pixels and instead applies a compensating signal to recover their original optical states. Different pixels can be updated in time-overlapping manner so that the electrophoretic display responds to new image commands in real-time.
