The method is compatible with a wide variety of functional groups, and avoids the use of highly reactive reagents such as organolithium compounds. Additionally, the dehalogenated compounds are separable from reaction by-products on silica gel. Compounds dehalogenated by the method described herein are suitable for incorporation into OLEDs and other electronic devices.
