摘要: A system for implementing computer security is provided. The system includes a computer processor and an application configured to execute on the computer processor, the application implementing a method that includes creating a token and populating a payload section of the token with key material and selecting a wrapping method that specifies how the key material is securely bound to key control information. A structure of the key control information in the token is independent of the wrapping method. Implementing computer security also includes wrapping the key material and binding key control information to the key material in the token. The key control information includes information relating to usage and management of the key material.

摘要: A method, article, and system for providing an effective implementation of data structures, and application programming interface (API) functions that allow secure execution of functions behind a secure boundary. The controlling mechanism is a flexible, extendable, and non-forgeable block that details how values and parameters behind the secure boundary can be changed. The invention allows for one entity to execute a security function that will normally require extensive authorizations or dual or multiple control. The method and system comprise instructions that are cryptographically protected against alteration or misuse, wherein the instructions further comprise a trusted block that defines security policies that are permitted when an application program employs the trusted block in APIs. The trusted block has a number of fields containing rules that provide an ability to limit how the trusted block is used, thereby reducing the risk of the trusted block being employed in unintended ways.

摘要: A servo track configuration includes at least one servo track having a width. A servo pattern is repeatedly recorded in the at least one servo track. Repeatedly recording the servo pattern includes repeating the simultaneous recording of first and second reference pattern lines and a track pattern line in the at least one servo track. Each of the first and second reference pattern lines has an identical predetermined geometry and extends across the width of the at least one servo track. Further, the track pattern line has a predetermined geometry that is different than the predetermined geometry of the first and second reference pattern lines and extends across the width of the at least one servo track.

摘要: Semiconductor apparatus comprises a split-gate semiconductor device (1) which has a first layer (3) of a first undoped semiconductor material (e.g. GaAs) and a second layer (4) of a second semiconductor material (e.g. AlGaAs) which is doped through at least part of its thickness. The second material has a higher energy band gap than the first material, and the layers form a heterojunction so that electrons from the second layer collect in the first layer to form a two-dimensional electron gas. Drain and source contacts (7,6) are provided on the second layers, and a gate electrode (8) is so configured that on application of a sufficiently large negative bias to the gate electrode a constriction is formed in the first layer through which only a one-dimensional electron gas can pass between the source and drain contacts. The apparatus also includes a bias supply (17) for applying a bias voltage between the source and drain contacts. The source/drain bias is made equal to or greater than E.sub.f /e where E.sub.f is the Fermi energy of electrons in the two-dimensional gas and e is the electron charge. As a result of the large source drain bias, the device exhibits negative resistance, and the apparatus can be used as an oscillator or a detector, operating in the Thz range.

摘要: A method of forming a multiple level porous silicon substrate for semiconductor integrated circuits including anodizing non-porous silicon layers of a multi-layer silicon substrate to form multiple levels of porous silicon. At least one porous silicon layer is then oxidized to form an insulating layer and at least one other layer of porous silicon beneath the insulating layer is metallized to form a buried conductive layer. Preferably the insulating layer and conductive layer are separated by an anodization barrier formed of non-porous silicon. By etching through the anodization barrier and subsequently forming a metallized conductive layer, a fully or partially insulated buried conductor may be fabricated under single crystal silicon.

摘要: A die holder comprises a die housing and a guide bar. The guide bar is designed to be retained within a Jacob's chuck retained within a lathe tailstock, and the die housing is slidably movable along the guide bar. A button die is retained within the die housing and with the guide bar aligned with the bar stock workpiece held by the lathe headstock, the die housing may be brought into engagement with the workpiece so that the button die engages the same. A user may then grasp the die holder while the headstock and workpiece are rotating so as to effect a cutting of threads. A reverse rotation of the headstock will result in a disengagement of the die holder.

摘要: A rod arraying system for nuclear fuel rods or burnable poison rods. A support structure positions a consolidation canister vertically to receive the rods. A rod loading pattern provides a gap between rods to allow projections to hold each rod in position. One or more rod arraying devices positioned vertically along and inclined toward the canister provide a triangular pitch loading configuration. A guide assembly slidably mounted on the mounting base of the rod arraying device has two guide plates with scalloped edges. The guide plates are offset relative to each other with one being cycled back and forth by an air cylinder to allow individual loading of fuel rods one row at a time. The inclined weight of the guide plates keeps them in position against the rods to prevent unwanted shifting of rods during the loading operation.
