Operation specifications of the inverter apparatus change depending on the operation management specifications of the input/output interface, and are determined by the type of the I/O block which is connected to the basic control section, such that connecting the different types of I/O blocks to the basic control section causes the inverter apparatus to have different operation specifications.

The present invention provides a control algorithm which instantaneously detects magnetic pole positions in the inside of a motor including polarities of the motor. A controller 1 applies a minute voltage change vhd to a voltage command on a dc axis which constitutes an estimation magnetic pole axis of the motor 3, detects electric currents Idc, Iqc of a motor 3 and discriminates the polarities of the magnetic pole axes by making use of the difference between a cycle in which ripple components of the electric currents Idc, Iqc become positive and a cycle in which the ripple components become negative or the difference between positive-side and negative-side current change rates. Further, the minute voltage change vhd with respect to the above-mentioned voltage command is generated on both of the dc axis and the qc axis rectangular thereto, and the magnetic pole positions of the motor are directly estimated based on the current ripple components on the respective axes. Without separately providing a cycle for discriminating the polarities of the magnetic poles, the cycle from the turning-on of a power source to the starting of the motor can be shortened so that the high-speed starting of the motor can be realized.

In a rotating machine with employment of a sensor-less DC brushless motor, a terminal voltage of a motor is corrected in a phase corrector by using a motor phase current signal. At this time, the terminal voltage is processed in an integrator and a comparator so as to be converted into an ON/OFF signal having a duty ratio of 1:1. Then, a rotation signal is produced based on an induced voltage which is generated by rotating a permanent magnet rotor, so that a rotation sensor is no longer required. On the other hand, an output derived from the phase corrector is entered as a 1-pulse/1-rotation output signal into a PLL circuit. The PLL circuit contains a phase comparator, a low-pass filter, an oscillator, and a counter. The PLL circuit frequency-divides the 1-pulse/1-rotation output signal. The sine wave data are stored into a ROM with respect to each of the frequency-divided signal positions. The unbalance vibrations of the magnetic bearing are controlled every frequency-divided signal.
