A method and apparatus for providing universal key security in a mechanical key access environment is disclosed. An electromechanical lock is provided for securing an environment, whereby access is permitted through the steps of receiving a key in the lock, reading a first source of indicia from the key, wherein said first source of indicia comprises information or data specific to said lock, reading a second source of indicia, wherein the second source of indicia comprises information specific to the user of the key, and authorizing a use of the key based on both indicia readings. One embodiment involves the use of a biometric device within the key or on or near the lock, with one example of such a device being a fingerprint sensor. Another embodiment involves the use of added information, such as the entry of an individual PIN number by the user of the key.

The PM consists primarily of a Material Delivery System (“MDS”) with a high temperature Vapor Phase Controller (“VFC”), a TP Reactor, a Treatment Chamber, a Deposition Chamber and a Pumping System. The present invention relates to the identification, isolation and purification of the catalytic domain of the human effector checkpoint protein kinase (hChk1). A 1.7Å crystal structure of the hChk1 kinase domain in the active conformation is reported herein. The kinase domain of hChk1 and its associated crystal structure is described for use in the discovery, identification and characterization of inhibitors of hChk1. This structure provides a three-dimensional description of the binding site of the hChk1 for structure-based design of small molecule inhibitors thereof as therapeutic agents. Inhibitors of hChk1 find utility in the treatment of hyperproliferative disorders such as HIV and cancer.

A system and method of reducing control message signaling load in a radio telecommunications network. When an authentication request is issued by the mobile switching center (MSC), the home network performs authentication of the visiting subscriber. When authentication fails the home network determines if a threshold value is reached. If so, a suitable authentication code portion is included in the return message so that local authentication of the visiting subscriber may be performed. The MSC is able to locally authenticate a visiting subscriber trying to access the network thereby suppressing the transmission of additional authentication requests and failure reports to the home network. For failed authentications, the VLR transmits authentication failure reports to the home network. If a threshold value is reached the MSC locally authenticates the mobile subscriber's subsequent attempts so that the VLR is precluded from sending additional authentication failure reports to the home network.
