    摘要: According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording medium includes a substrate, an auxiliary layer formed on the substrate, and at least one perpendicular magnetic recording layer formed on the auxiliary layer. The perpendicular magnetic recording layer includes a magnetic dot pattern. The perpendicular magnetic recording layer is made of an alloy material containing one element selected from iron and cobalt, and one element selected from platinum and palladium. This alloy material has the L10 structure, and is (001)-oriented. The auxiliary layer includes a dot-like first region covered with the magnetic dot pattern, and a second region not covered with the magnetic dot pattern. The first region is made of one metal selected from (100)-oriented nickel and (100)-oriented iron. The second region contains an oxide of the metal used in the first region.

    摘要: The present invention provides a magnetic recording medium which is capable of improving the perpendicular orientation of a perpendicular magnetic recording layer while maintaining a writing performance during recording and obtaining both an improvement in the perpendicular orientation and fine magnetic crystal particles with a uniform diameter, and which enables information to be recorded or reproduced at high density, a method of manufacturing the same, and a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus. A magnetic recording medium 10 according to the present invention includes at least a soft magnetic underlayer 2, an orientation control layer 3, a magnetic recording layer 4, and a protective layer 5 formed on a non-magnetic substrate 1. The orientation control layer 3 has a seed layer 6 and an intermediate layer 7. The seed layer 6 is made of a Cu—Ti alloy that has a face-centered cubic structure and includes Cu as a main component. The Cu—Ti alloy has a (111) crystal plane oriented substantially perpendicular to the surface of the non-magnetic substrate 1 and has a pseudo-hexagonal structure.

    摘要: A multilayer coil component is constructed such that inductance can be finely adjusted and the coupling between two helical coils can be strengthened without increasing the types of patterns of coil conductors. Coil conductors of a first coil unit are connected to each other in series via via-hole conductors so as to form a first helical coil. Coil conductors of a second coil unit are connected to each other in series via via-hole conductors so as to form a second helical coil. The first and second helical coils are coaxially positioned, have different numbers of turns, and are electrically connected to each other in parallel. The sum of turns of the coil conductors facing each other at a portion where the first coil unit and the second coil unit are adjacent to each other is larger than the sum of turns of the coil conductors positioned on both outer sides in the coil axis direction of the first and second helical coils.

    摘要: According to one embodiment, disclosed is a perpendicular magnetic recording medium in which a magnetic recording layer has a stacked structure including a hard magnetic recording layer and soft magnetic recording layer each having magnetic crystal grains and a grain boundary region. The magnetic crystal grains in the hard magnetic recording layer contain Co and Pt, have the hcp structure, and are orientated in the (0001) plane. The magnetic recording layer has a residual squareness ratio of 0.95 or less and an irreversible reversal magnetic field of 0 Oe or less on a magnetization curve when a magnetic field perpendicular to the substrate surface is applied.
