A method is provided for adhering a polyurethane-based sealant or adhesive to a substrate. The method comprises: i) applying an aqueous primer solution onto a substrate, the primer solution comprising water, an aminotitanate compound, and preferably an epoxysilane compound having at least one epoxy group and at least two alkoxy groups; ii) applying a polyurethane adhesive or sealant to the primer-treated substrate; and iii) forming a reaction product of the primer and the polyurethane. Also provided are a substrate having a layer of a polyurethane adhesive or sealant, and a stabilized aqueous primer solution containing an epoxysilane compound and an aminotitanate compound.

The BB-monomer is conveniently synthesized and isolated as a phosphate salt having a uniform number of phosphate ions associated with each BB-monomer ion. Such high purity monophosphate and diphosphate salts can be obtained by precipitating the monomer from an aqueous acid solution by adjusting the pH balance or from a mixture of phosphoric acid and a volatile, polar, saturated organic liquid at a relatively low temperature.

Electronic writing systems and methods are described. In one aspect, an electronic writing system includes an elongated housing, an inertial sensor, an optical sensor, and a tracking module. The elongated housing has an optical input. The inertial sensor is attached to the housing and is operable to generate data indicative of movement of the housing relative to an inertial reference frame. The optical sensor is attached to the housing and is operable to generate data from light received through the optical input. The tracking module is operable to compute relative displacement data from inertial movement data corresponding to data generated by the inertial sensor. The tracking module also is operable to detect at least one calibrated position from calibration data encoded in optical data generated from light received by the optical sensor.
