    Abstract: Disclosed examples include lens cleaning systems, drivers and operating methods, including a transducer mechanically coupled to a lens, a driver to provide an oscillating drive signal to the transducer and a controller to control the drive signal frequency to vibrate the lens at frequencies in a range of interest. The controller determines a measured resonant frequency of the lens cleaning system in the range of interest according to a transducer feedback signal and selectively performs a lens cleaning operation if the measured resonant frequency differs from a baseline resonant frequency of the lens cleaning system for a clean lens.

    Abstract: A regenerative braking controller for an AC motor. To determine an electromagnetic torque for slowing or stopping the motor, the regenerative braking controller accesses a lookup table to retrieve an braking torque value corresponding to a current estimate of rotor velocity. The retrieved braking torque may correspond to a maximum or minimum torque level at which regenerative braking will occur at the current rotor velocity, or to a torque level at which charging current during regenerative braking will be maximized. If an external mechanical brake is present, the regenerative braking controller can forward an external braking torque signal to a controller so that the mechanical brake can apply the remainder of the braking force beyond that indicated by the regenerative braking torque. A method for establishing the braking torques to be stored in the lookup table is also disclosed.

    Abstract: An adaptive torque disturbance cancellation method and motor control system for rotating a load are described. The system has: (i) a speed controller for receiving a first input signal indicating a desired motor speed and, in response, for outputting a motor control signal; (ii) current sensing circuitry for sensing current through a motor that rotates in response to the speed controller; (iii) circuitry for storing, into a storage device, history data representative of the current through a motor when the motor operates to rotate the load; and (iv) circuitry for modifying the motor control signal in response to the history data.

    Abstract: A permanent magnet motor controller injects a periodic signal into a field oriented controller of the brushless motor. Phase currents in stator windings of the brushless motor are measured. A d-axis current and a q-axis current are determined with a transform of the phase currents. The d-axis current and the q-axis current are demodulated to extract an angle dependent current signature that includes a sine component of a rotor angle estimate and a cosine component of the rotor angle estimate. The rotor angle estimate is determined by processing the sine component and cosine component.

    Abstract: Mechanical vibration may be sensed by a remotely located ultrasonic sensor. An ultrasonic wave may be transmitted from a transmitter to a vibrating surface, in which the transmitter is separated from the vibrating surface by a distance. A reflected portion of the ultrasonic wave that is reflected from the vibrating surface may be received by a receiver that is also separated from the vibrating surface by a distance. A measure of phase shift amplitude in the reflected portion of the ultrasonic wave may be determined and converted into an amplitude of a vibration of the vibrating surface.

    Abstract: A method of controlling an electric motor (motor) includes providing a processor having an associated memory storing a stator resistance (Rs) estimation (RSE) algorithm that is programmed to implement the RSE algorithm to execute steps including injecting a current waveform at an arbitrary frame of reference into the stator using a field-oriented-control (FOC) motor controller including an Id controller and an Iq controller, and measuring current and voltage values from the motor responsive to the injecting. The measured current and voltage values are then transformed into transformed current and voltage values in a d/q coordinate system. The transformed current and voltage values are low pass filtered to generate filtered d/q current and voltage values, and a value for Rs is estimated from the filtered d/q current and voltage values. The arbitrary frame of reference can be a time-varying frame of reference.
