摘要: Annuloplasty rings reduce or eliminate tricuspid regurgitation and/or tricuspid annulus dilation. An adjustable annuloplasty device includes a ring body having a first free end and a second free end. The ring body includes a shape memory material to provide a shape change to the adjustable annuloplasty device upon activation. The ring body includes a first segment including the first free end and following a curved path corresponding to an anterior leaflet region of a tricuspid annulus, a second segment following a curved path corresponding to a posterior leaflet region of the tricuspid annulus, and a third segment including the second free end and at least partially following a linear path corresponding to a portion of a septal leaflet region of the tricuspid annulus. Activation of the shape memory material changes a dimension of the adjustable annuloplasty device.

摘要: A reversibly adjustable heart harness is configured to surround at least a portion of a heart and to provide a compressive force to the heart during at least a portion of a cardiac cycle. The heart harness includes a plurality of wires forming a mesh structure, and one or more tensioning motors connected to the mesh structure. The one or more tensioning motors are configured to selectively increase or reduce tension in the mesh structure to readjust the compressive force provided that the heart harness provides to the heart.

摘要: A subcutaneous needle conduit attaches directly to a blood vessel or other biological boundary structure. The subcutaneous needle conduit is tapered such that a proximal end is wider than a distal end. A body of the subcutaneous needle conduit guides the tip of a needle or other canula from the proximal end to the distal end. The subcutaneous needle conduit may be funnel-shaped. An elongated funnel shape may be used to selectively provide access to a plurality of desired access sites along an axis of a blood vessel. Other shapes, such as sluice-shaped, may also be used. The subcutaneous needle conduit may be located beneath the skin surface using, for example, tactile sensation, magnetism, metal detection, detection of a signal emitted from a minute transponder, detection of light emission, or through other detection methods.

摘要: Methods and devices are provided for support of a body structure. The devices can be adjusted within the body of a patient in a minimally invasive or non-invasive manner such as by applying energy percutaneously or external to the patient's body. The energy may include, for example, acoustic energy, radio frequency energy, light energy and magnetic energy. Thus, as the body structure changes size and/or shape, the size and/or shape of the annuloplasty rings can be adjusted to provide continued reinforcement. In certain embodiments, the devices include a body member including a shape memory material, and an energy absorption enhancement material configured to absorb energy in response to an activation energy. The energy absorption enhancement material is in thermal communication with said shape memory material. The body member has a first size of a dimension in a first configuration and a second size of the dimension in a second configuration, and is configured to be implanted in the first configuration into a heart. The body member is configured to transform from the first configuration to the second configuration in response to the activation energy. The second configuration is configured to reduce a dimension of a cardiac valve annulus in the heart.

The devices have a first shape in a first configuration and a second shape in a second configuration and are configured to transform from the first configuration to the second configuration in response to an activation energy applied thereto. The transformation is configured to reduce a distance between the anterior portion and the posterior portion without substantially decreasing a distance between the two lateral portions.
