    摘要: An improvement on existing methods to desulfurize oligosulfide silanes generates no added raw materials or waste streams in addition to the sodium chloride which is generated as a byproduct in the current manufacturing process for polyusulfide silanes. This is accomplished by using mercaptosilane salts as desulfurizing agents, which yield more product in addition to that already obtained from the desulfurized silane of higher sulfur rank. The process simply entails reacting an oligosulfide silane with a mercaptosilane salt to thereby obtain an oligosulfide silane whose average sulfur rank is less than the starting oligosulfide silane. Coproduct sulfide salts can be recycled back to the oligosulfide manufacturing process. The mercaptosilane salts are novel materials as well.

    摘要: The present invention discloses novel hydrocarbon core polysulfide silanes and methods of preparing the hydrocarbon core polysulfide silanes. Preferably, the silanes of the present invention contain assemblies of a single unit of a hydrolyzable silane group, tethered to one end of a chain of sulfur atoms, and several of these assemblies are bound to a common central hydrophobic core via the other end of the sulfur atoms chain. The hydrocarbon core polysulfide silanes may be incorporated into filled elastomeric compositions providing improved dispersiblity of the filler materials. Mineral fillers may be pre-treated with the hydrocarbon core polysulfide silanes prior to use in elastomeric compositions.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a process for making 1,2,4-trivinylcyclohexane that is enriched in a particular geometric isomer. The process involves the thermal isomerization of 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene at temperature between 400° C. and 600° C. followed by an equilibration of the resultant intermediate in either the gas phase or liquid phase at temperature between 180° C. and 375° C. and at pressures ranging from 0.101 kPa to 1.013 kPa. Also disclosed are 1,2,4-trivinylcyclohexane compositions that are enriched in a particular geometric isomer.

    摘要: This invention describes novel chemical compounds whose structures are hybrids between sulfur-containing and non-sulfur-containing silanes wherein the two types of silanes are linked by siloxane bonds. The invention includes methods of preparation for the hybrid silanes as well as their use in filled rubbers as coupling agents. The hybrid silanes described are unique in that a certain amount of water in their preparation leads to superior performance in their intended application, and that they can thus be produced more efficiently and safely than coupling agents currently used in the art, from readily available hydrated raw materials.
