摘要： In a method and device for processing elongated tubular material, more particularly for everting a sausage or packing casing having been subjected to a surface treatment, tubular material is discharged from a package or supply reel and passed through a stationary guide member having an annular cross-section. The material is folded back over said guide member and displaced within said guide member during the everting action into a direction contrary to that of the material outside the guide member. The latter forms a new package of tubular material which encloses the stationary guide member. The latter is a hollow mandrel comprising a freely projecting end, the end edge of which being adapted to fold back tubular material. Members are provided at distance from said end edge for tucking the tubular material upon said mandrel or an extension thereof.

摘要： A reusable tubular casing is made of porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane for the production of caseless (skinless) parboil or raw sausages. The membrane has a microstructure comprising PTFE nodes connected by PTFE fibrils with a porosity of about 70-80%, a Gurley No. less than about 28 seconds, a Bubble Point Pressure greater than about 13, and a Water Entry Pressure greater than about 40 psig. The casing is contacted on at least a part of its circumferential area by a porous support such as a cylindrical lattice. A new process for production of parboil or raw sausage involves heating the sausage in casing formed by a reusable non-adherent, vapor permeable membrane to drive off moisture and other volatile materials, and removing the sausage from the casing. The sausage can subsequently be smoked and the casing reused.

摘要： A sausage-casing/sleeve combination has a flexible synthetic-resin sleeve having a laterally open aperture, a pair of longitudinal ends, and a tear line extending longitudinally from this aperture to one of the ends. A plurality of sausage-casing sections having overlapping ends and longitudinally compressed accordion-fashion are carried on the sleeve between the aperture and the one end. This combination is made by fitting the sleeve over a mandrel tube, clamping the end of the sleeve at the tip of the mandrel tube, and then pulling the sections over the thus rigidified sleeve while ejecting water from the end of the sleeve to soften the sausage-casing sections. The overlapping ends may be stapled, glued, or sewn together.

摘要： Disclosed is a process for coating the inside of a length of tubing comprising the steps of forming at least one loop of tubing with a downwardly inclined portion and an upwardly inclined portion; filling the cavity of the tubing forming the loop with a coating liquid; transporting the tubing along its longitudinal axis in a substantially vertically upward direction to coat the inside surface of the tubing above the level of the coating liquid with an initial layer of coating liquid; constricting the tubing adjacent to and above the level of the coating liquid with a metering device having a constriction zone which flattens a portion of the tubing passing therethrough to substantially eliminate all of the initial layer thereon and partially flattens the remaining portion of the tubing to allow a desired quantity of coating liquid to remain on the tubing issuing from the constriction zone; filling the cavity of the tubing issuing from the constriction zone with support gas; and, exposing the tubing to the action of heat at a sufficiently high temperature to fuse the coating layer to the inside thereof and form an uninterrupted film. Also disclosed is an apparatus for carrying out the process.

摘要： This invention relates to an apparatus and a method for inverting a flexible tubular film casing. The method for inverting the tubular film comprises: mounting, in an enclosed housing, carrying a tubular extension and a gas passageway, a reel of flexible tubular film stock onto a supporting member which permits unwinding of the film. An end of the film then is threaded through the bore of a tubular extension carried by the housing, inverted, placed over the external surface of the tubular extension and clamped. The housing then is pressurized with gas by introducing it through the gas passageway. The film is caused to unwind from the reel and be pulled through the tubular extension by pressurizing the housing with gas.
