Novel methods, systems, and apparatuses for reclaiming annealing gases from a high pressure annealing processing system are disclosed. According to an embodiment, the exhaust gasses from the high pressure annealing processing system are directed into a gas reclaiming system only when a precious gas, e.g., deuterium is used. The annealing gas is the separated from other gasses used in the high pressure annealing processing system and is then pressurized, filtered, and purified prior to transferring the gas to a bulk storage distribution unit. In one embodiment, the reclaimed gas is then again provided to the high pressure annealing processing system to anneal the wafers.

The apparatus contains a wettable filter medium for use with a respirator in order to filter tritium, the filter medium being wetted when in use. The apparatus is also mountable to a cartridge containing a separate HEPA or other filter that is typically maintained in a dry state. Thus, a single unit containing both wet and dry filter media is provided for mounting to a respirator so that tritium or tritium water vapor and particulate contaminants can be filtered at the same time.

The self-closing filter still further includes a valve attached to the housing. The valve is selectively actuatable to an open state and to a closed state. The filtration media is exposed to an atmosphere impinging upon the tire when the valve is in the open state. The closed state is to prevent exposure of the filtration media to the contaminants when the valve is in the closed state.
