摘要: Oxygen carriers for chemical looping and scalable methods of preparation thereof. Wet impregnation of active metal precursors into porous substrates, together with selective adsorption of the precursors on the pore surfaces, enables transition metal oxides derived from the precursors to disperse throughout the substrate, even at the nanoscale, without increased sintering or agglomeration, thereby forming oxygen carriers suitable for chemical looping. The porous substrate can be an oxide, for example SiO2. The oxygen carriers can comprise relatively large oxide loadings of over about 20 wt. % and exhibit high reactivity over many regeneration cycles with substantially no loss in oxygen transport capacity or decrease in kinetics. The use of multiple transition metal oxides, for example NiO in addition to CuO, can greatly enhance chemical looping performance.

(1) preparing for a solution containing a metal and/or a metal ion;
(2) preparing for an adsorbent having a co-continuous structure formed by: a ceramic skeleton including mesopores; and macropores, wherein a surface of the ceramic skeleton is modified by a metal- and/or metal ion-adsorbable functional group, a most frequent pore diameter of the macropores before modification by the functional group is 0.20 μm or more and 4.0 μm or less, and a most frequent pore diameter of the mesopores before modification by the functional group is 2.0 nm or more and 50 nm or less;
(3) contacting the solution and the adsorbent;
(4) contacting the adsorbent subjected to step (3) and an acidic solution; and
(5) recovering the metal and/or the metal ion from the acidic solution subjected to step (4).-

摘要: A composition can be used to treat water containing nitrogen compounds and phosphorus compounds. The composition includes iron filings, clay particles, aluminum particles, and sand particles. The iron filings, clay particles, and aluminum particles act to remove nitrogen compounds and phosphorus compounds from water. Specifically, the clay particles attract the nitrogen compounds and the phosphorus compounds to be absorbed onto a surface of the iron filings and the clay particles. The aluminum particles react with the nitrogen compounds via an oxidation reaction to form ammonia compounds and react with the phosphorus compounds to produce aluminum phosphate. The relationship between the iron filings, clay particles, and aluminum particles remove nitrogen and phosphorus compounds from water and recover the compounds in usable forms, namely, ammonia and aluminum phosphate.

摘要: Methods and systems for scrubbing and removing hydrogen sulfide from a biogas. The methods and systems use a hydrogen sulfide removal media comprising biomass derived biochar, activated carbon, silica gel, and metal organic framework inside a tube through which the biogas passes to scrub the hydrogen sulfide from the biogas. The methods and systems are capable of achieving are about 95% reduction of hydrogen sulfide present in the biogas.

摘要: The Level A hazardous material suit is designed to provide the maximum amount of protection to the individual from any substances that may irritate the skin, eyes, or respiratory systems. The Level A suit completely encapsulates the individual and provides a self-contained breathing apparatus to prevent respiratory irritants. As the person breathes and perspires within the suit, moisture accumulates within the suit and obscures the vision of the individual using the suit. This moisture will obscure the vision of the person and force the individual to leave the area. This application uses a moisture absorbing material such as silica gel to absorb this moisture to allow a more efficient use of the suit.
