摘要: A work set up method and apparatus is disclosed for use with tape controlled machine tools including quick connect ball locks which accurately lock one or more fixtures and workpieces to a work table. The tape is indexed with one ball lock and controls the machining of the workpiece. The fixture and workpiece may be locked to the table of other tape controlled machines for performing other machining functions on the workpiece. A second embodiment includes a work set up apparatus in combination with a drill holding mechanism and at least one multiple spindle drilling head secured to the vertically movable head of a multiple drilling head machine. Depending upon the complexity and size of the workpiece and the number of drills in the second embodiments, set up time is reduced from a prior art time of between about 4-16 hours to between about 5-20 minutes in accordance with the present invention.

摘要: A production line for working on a succession of workpieces has a transporter or conveyor defining a longitudinal path for carrying and displacing the succession of workpieces in longitudinal stop-and-go steps through a succession of stations generally longitudinally equispaced along the path, respective machines at the stations for lifting the workpieces off the conveyor and working on the workpieces as same are stopped between transport steps, and a lifter at at least one of the stations for raising the workpieces thereof off the conveyor and holding them clear thereof between transport steps. Thus some of the stations are merely holding or nonworking stations where nothing is done to the workpieces. The machines at this or these stations can be adapted to work only on other types of workpieces mixed in with the production run, or only on certain of the workpieces for custom work.

摘要: A system comprising a plurality of complementary numerically controlled machine tools in which different workpieces are each subjected to appropriate selected machining operations on selected machine tools in a selected order by appropriate delivery of common form pallets loaded with the workpieces. Transporters deliver pallets between the machine tools, a storage rack, and work-setting stations where workpieces, automatically delivered in bins from a bin store, are loaded on pallets. Tool magazines are delivered between a rack and the machine tools by transporter. Transport and machining operations are computer controlled, and monitors feed back signals indicative of location of pallets, tool magazines, and bins in the system.

摘要: The specification discloses a chuck rotatable on a work axis and having workpiece-engaging jaws rotatable on an axis extending perpendicular to the work axis. A disc is connected to rotate with the jaws and protrudes from the side of the chuck body and has elements in the form of grooves or cams thereon facing away from the chuck body. These elements occupy respective axial planes of the chuck body in respective rotated positions of the disc and are adapted for cooperation with feeler members of a control device. A feeler member is located in each said axial plane and is movable from a retracted position away from the chuck body to an advanced position wherein one end is in the path of movement of a respective element of said disc in the respective rotated position of the disc. The present invention concerns a rotating chuck which is intended particularly for turning machines and is designed as displaceable or rotatable chuck with clamping jaws which are adapted to be controlled during the rotation of the chuck so as to be displaced transverse to the axis of the chuck body and/or to be pivoted about an axis different from the axis of rotation of the chuck.

摘要: In a flexible manufacturing system, a control apparatus for a transfer device stores in a memory section thereof correlation information for correlating workpieces (ante-machining workpieces) to be attached to pallets with blank materials contained in blank material baskets. When a selected one of the pallets is to be transferred to a pallet loading station, the control apparatus determines blank materials corresponding to the workpieces to be attached to the selected one of the pallets based on the correlation information and then, controls the transfer device to transfer a blank material basket containing the determined blank materials from a basket rack to a basket loading station located adjacent to the pallet loading station in connection with transferring the selected one of the pallets to the pallet loading station. Thus, when the selected one of the pallets is transferred to the pallet loading station, it becomes possible to reduce the time taken for the worker to search for the blank material basket.

Each machining station comprises one or more identical machine tools (9). Each of these machine tools (9) has a plurality of tool spindles (7, 7′), at least some of which are equipped permanently with a tool (8, 8′). The cylinder head (3) is displaced in the working space (6) of the machine tool (9) with the aid of a displacement unit and is positioned with respect to the tools (8, 8′) in such a way that these tools (8, 8′) come into engagement with the cylinder head (3) in succession or simultaneously. By means of such a machining system, the idle times in the cutting of cylinder heads (3) can be reduced considerably.

In an exemplary embodiment, the method includes receiving an input configuration for a power plant to be analyzed, and receiving inputted power plant operational information. A simulated power plant operation is then run for a specified period of time, based upon the power plant input configuration and the inputted power plant operational information. The simulated results of the simulated power plant operation are then outputted in accordance with selected economic parameters of the power plant.
