A sliding door operator comprises a tubular housing adapted to receive first and second elongated bars in a spaced apart and parallel arrangement. Both bars include a gear-toothed rack engaged by a single motor driven gear. An end of one bar is secured to the door and an end of the other bar is secured to a wall structure. A bracket secured to the door includes registering apertures adapted to mate with a bore in the end of one of the bars so that the bar can be detachably locked to the door by a locking pin. The other bar also includes a bore adapted to mate with the aperture in a channel bracket secured to the stationary wall structure to receive a removable locking pin therethrough. In addition, the operator includes a locking mechanism for locking the bars in a fixed position with respect to each other.

A top hinged swinging sash assembly includes a hinge bar adapted for securement to a building girt, said hinge bar including a substantially J-shaped hinge rail. A frame assembly comprising a head member, a sill member, two or more vertical mullions and two side flashing members is joined to the hinge bar through a curved, beaded head rail extending from the head member. The spaced, vertical mullions connect between the head and sill members with flat or corrugated panels being retained between the mullions and mullion caps mounted thereto. Operators connect to the frame and preferably to the mullions or sills to cause the frame to swing out from the hinge bar. In a preferred embodiment the mullions include a planar forward surface having a hub extending outward therefrom to define oppositely extending channels. These channels accommodate flat panels or in the case of the end mullions accommodate the side flashing members in interlocking relationship. The operator is preferably a rack and pinion with the rack arm thereof terminating in a pivotal connection with the rear portion of the mullion. The frame members are preferably made of extruded aluminum, extruded plastic or formed sheet metal.

An inertia insensitive disconnectable drive linkage connects a power operator to a swinging door and comprises a door bracket fixed to the door and an arm operator pivoted thereto. A latch positively locks the operator arm to the bracket during normal powered swing of the door. A cam on the door frame releases the latch when the door is swung beyond the door closed position in the opposite direction of opening during emergency operation.

A door operator for a vehicle wherein resilient means couples the drive arm to the door to control the force applied by the door operator throughout the door closing cycle. The operator is compact and mountable in the side wall of the vehicle above the floor and includes an independent locking system, together with an emergency opening assembly.

The sash arm is configured to extend from the stationary frame of the casement window to a rotatable window sash of the casement window.

The door element can be maintained in position by means of the locking means and the locking means can be electrically actuated, namely indirectly, preferably manually, actuated.
