    摘要: An apparatus for segregating particulate by density and/or size including a fluidizing bed having a particulate receiving inlet for receiving particulate to be fluidized. The fluidized bed also includes an opening for receiving a first fluidizing stream, an exit for fluidized particulate and at least one exit for non-fluidized particulate. A conveyor is operatively disposed in the fluidized bed for conveying the non-fluidized particulate to the non-fluidized particulate exit. A collector box is in operative communication with the fluidized bed to receive the non-fluidized particulate. There is a means for directing a second fluidizing stream through the non-fluidized particulate as while it is in the collector box to separate fluidizable particulate therefrom.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process for converting a bioorganic material such as sewage sludge into a wet, organically enriched inorganic fertilzer mix that permits drying and pelletizing into a compact particle fertilizer form. The process provides for effective odour control as well as disinfection of the bioorganic material, which are essentially required in accordance with United States Environmental Protection Agency regulations in relation to land applications of bioorganic materials. The drying and pelletizing process through heating of the fertlizer mix also serves to provide a sterilized particle fertilizer as required by the above regulations for particular applications. The process also provides for chemical reactions to occur that result in the formation of fire retardants which serve to avoid fire hazards that could otherwise be associated with the drying and pelletizing process.

    摘要: A fluid bed dryer comprises a pre-dryer of the back mixed type and a post-dryer of the plug flow-type. In the pre-dryer the main part of heat is transferred to the product being dried by means of heating panels arranged above the bed plate. A control bed is interposed between the pre-dryer and the post-dryer and includes one or more temperature sensors for sensing the temperature of the product in the control bed. Heat supply to the heating panels is controlled in response to the temperature sensed by the sensor or sensors in order to maintain the product temperature in the pre-dryer at the dew point and so as to ensure that the drying process proceeds within the region of constant drying rate, and that the product contains little or substantially no unbound moisture despite possible changes in product fed to the pre-dryer.

    摘要: A method for thermal treatment, especially drying, of finely particulated bulk material comprises the steps of stirring the material in a reactor by means of a rotating stirrer while simultaneously discharging a heated gas under pressure through openings in a hollow arm of the stirrer so as to form in the reactor a whirling fluidized bed from the material, and introducing the necessary amount of heat for the thermal treatment of the material at least in part through a heat exchanger extending into the whirling fluidized bed. The apparatus for carrying out the method mainly comprises an arrangement for feeding the material through an inlet into a reactor forming a whirling chamber in which a rotating stirring device is arranged having at least one hollow stirring arm provided with openings through which a preferably heated gas under pressure is discharged into the material so as to form a whirling fluidized bed in the reactor, a heat exchanger extending through the fluidized bed, and an outlet for discharging the gas and treated material from the reactor. The reactor may also include an arrangement extending into the whirling fluidized bed for retarding flow of the material from the inlet to the outlet of the reactor, which arrangement may be constituted by a heat exchanger of lamellar construction so that the material will pass in cascades through the reactor.

    摘要: An apparatus for drying coal. The coal, in the form of coal particles, is fed into a drying chamber where the coal is suspended in a fluidized bed while being dried in an atmosphere of steam which is at a temperature too low to release oxygen but high enough to extract sulphur from the coal particles. The temperature of the atmosphere in the fluidized bed where the drying of the coal takes place in regulated with heating coils which directly contact the coal particles while the latter are suspended in the fluidized bed, so that further drying is achieved by direct contact between the coal particles and the heating coils. The coal with its reduced sulphur and moisture content is taken in a preheated condition from the dryer and delivered to a coke oven to reduce the extent to which coal must be heated therein. Gas extracted from the dryer is treated to have water condensed therefrom and to extract sulphur therefrom. In addition, pellets of calcium oxide and/or magnesium oxide are delivered to the fluidized bed together with the coal particles for further extracting sulphur from the atmosphere in the fluidized bed, these pellets also being subsequently treated, as by roasting, to extract sulphur therefrom.
