摘要: A method for setting a header, having a header extension type field, of a protocol data unit in a radio link control layer of a wireless communications system includes configuring a “use of the special value of the header extension type field” mode, and setting the header extension type field to indicate that a last octet of the protocol data unit is a last octet of a service data unit when the last octet of the protocol data unit is the last octet of the service data unit and there is no concatenation of service data units inside the protocol data unit.

摘要: A node implementing an RLC (Radio Link Control) entity and being for use in a mobile communications system transmits a sequence of RLC SDUs (SDU=Service Data Unit) towards a peer node. As a result of re-establishment of an RLC entity not all SDUs may have been received. The peer notifies the node which is the next SDU that the peer expects to receive (by transmitting the next SDU number to the node). The node resumes transmission from that SDU onwards. This may or may not lead to re-transmission of SDUs transmitted before the RLC re-establishment. As an alternative, the peer does not notify the node of the next SDU that it expects to receive, but instead the node re-transmits any unacknowledged SDUs, together with the SDU number of the first re-transmitted SDU. The peer then discards any duplicate SDUs. Both variants enable lossless data transfer whilst avoiding duplication.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for adjusting bandwidth of streams carried on a subscriber loop. One exemplary method comprises the steps of: determining bandwidth in use on a subscriber loop; selecting, for adjustment, at least one of a plurality of TCP streams carried on the subscriber loop; and adjusting at least one flow control parameter of the selected TCP stream based on the bandwidth in use. An exemplary multimedia terminal adapter (MTA) comprises memory and a processor. The memory stores program code, and the code programs the processor to enable the MTA to: determine bandwidth in use on a subscriber loop; select, for adjustment, at least one of a plurality of TCP streams carried on the subscriber loop; and adjust at least one flow control parameter of the selected TCP stream based on the bandwidth in use.

摘要: The present invention provides a communication device, comprising: transmission means for transmitting a plurality of data segments via a packet communication network, each of the data segments including a sequence number, the data segments being transmitted in sequence number order; receiving means for receiving an acknowledgement indicating a data segment which the destination device requests the communication device to transmit next; retransmission means for changing a transmission rate and fro retransmitting one of the data segments in a case that the communication device has not received an acknowledgement including an acknowledgement number greater than a sequence number included in the retransmitted data segment when a predetermined time elapses following transmission of the original data segment; control means for determining a subsequent data segment to be transmitted next, and for controlling a transmission rate on the basis of a category of the acknowledgement and also information included in the acknowledgement.

摘要: A system and method for controlling transmission of a radio packet data are disclosed. A time point when a congestion controlling mechanism, causing a TCP performance degradation with the mobile station and the PDSN, is previously detected, and when the mechanism is operated, it is quickly returned. Thus, in spite of a bit error (data loss) existing due to the characteristics of the radio data service, a reliable data service can be guaranteed.

摘要: A method and equipment for accelerating throughput of communication segments from a sender (30) to a receiver (40) each of which include a protocol layer (30a 40a) for providing such segments, the method in case of TCP including a first step (20a) in which the sender protocol layer (30a) initializes a congestion window (cwnd) to some initial size (iwnd) and increases the congestion window by one segment each time it receives an ACK, but upon receiving an indication of low congestion, performs a step (20c) of accelerated start in which it sets a slow start threshold (SSTHRES) to a standard initial value (typically 65535) and re-initializes cwnd to a new value, and the sender protocol layer (30a) then increments cwnd at one or another predetermined rate—depending on whether the start immediately follows a new connection or instead follows a transfer of an existing connection to a new path—in respect to received ACKs.
