    摘要: For inserting and removing packers into and from a rolling mill stand having roll adjusting hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies in the top of each stand housing, a packer-carrying sledge runs on tracks extending into the stand below the lowermost rolls of the stand. The sledge is located in the stand during rolling and can carry packers which are located operatively between the chocks of the lowermost roll and the housings.

    摘要: A wire rod rolling mill has a plurality of rolling stands with individual drive shafts connected to at least one main drive shaft through respective couplings which are selectively disengagable to interrupt the drive of the corresponding roll stand. The coupling means consist of meshing bevel gears on the main drive shaft and the respective roll stand drive shaft, and a slidable member rotationally fast with one of these shafts and slidable into and out of driving engagement with the corresponding bevel gear which is rotatable relative to the shaft. Alternatively, a similar coupling arrangement may be provided between two sections of the roll stand drive shaft, these sections being interconnected by spur gears. The sets of bevel gears between the main drive shaft and the rolling stand drive shafts are equal in their transmission ratios and the speed variation in the respective roll stands is achieved by spur gearing in the rolling stand drive shafts.

    摘要: A rolling stand, particularly intended for shaping a cast bar immediately upon leaving a continuous casting plant, is described, comprising two horizontal roll supports having their ends connected by a fixed crossmember on one side and a releasable cap on the other side to form a cage wherein a pair of vertical rolls mounted in inserts is arranged to be horizontally displaceable for adjustment of the roll gap. According to the invention the entire rolling stand including the rolls is detachably mounted on a base frame to be vertically removable therefrom, said base frame containing two transmission gears releasably connected for rotation with the roll shafts and enclosed in suspended casings which are moveable together with said rolls; the drive is located below floor and comprises driving spur wheels which are larger than the meshing drive-off spur wheels of the transmission gears by at least half the adjustment range of the rolls to maintain a stress-transmitting engagement of the gearing irrespective of any shifts occuring on roll gap adjustment.

    摘要: A cyclic operating rolling mill wherein one or more working rolls of small diameter, operating on one or both sides of the workpiece, are disposed between the workpiece and rigid housing beams, and are reciprocated along an inclined path by means of a drive plate to produce the reduction. The drive plate drives the work rolls by frictional contact along the same generator which transmits the roll-separating force to said rigid-housing beams. The workpiece is independently fed into the mill, and means are provided to obviate a scalloped condition of the finished workpiece. With a plurality of work rolls a rotation thereof of less than 180* creates an overlap in the rolling paths of the work rolls so that the portions of the work rolls which never contact the driving plate may be given a desired configuration other than cylindrical.
