摘要: A linear accelerator system for linearly advancing an electrically conductive, elongate workpiece, such as tubing, along its longitudinal axis toward a cutoff station or the like includes a helically configured electrical coils concentrically disposed around the workpiece for inducing an electromagnetic field which imposes an axial force on the workpiece. An adjustable stop assembly engages one end of the workpiece to allow selection of the length to be cut. A switch operated by the stop assembly produces a first control signal for controlling a relay which deenergizes the coil; the relay reenergizes the coil in response to a second control signal produced by another switch which senses the completion of the cutoff operation. Sleeves removably mounted on the coil to accommodate workpieces having various diameters. In lieu of the stop assembly, a length encoder may be optionally employed in combination with the accelerator or a separate retarding device to control feed length.

摘要: A strip-feed mechanism employing hold and feed gripper blades has a horizontal drive shaft with an adjustable eccentric assembly on it projecting from one side of a frame for easy access and adjustment. To accommodate extremely thin sheet material, the hold gripper blade is lifted from the sheet material during the forward portion of the stroke. The adjustable eccentric includes a cylindrical portion eccentrically mounted on a drive shaft and having a threaded periphery threadedly engaging an internally threaded wall of a bore through a cam member. The cam member and the threaded portion of the drive means are clamped together by a fastening means including a threaded plug and bolts. The threaded plug is threadedly received in the bore in the cam member, and the bolts are received in tapped holes in the cylindrical portion and bear against the plug to stress the mating threads on the drive member and cam member.

摘要: A device for feeding a web like a microfilm by use of rubber rollers has a stepping motor for driving the rubber roller. The stepping motor is controlled by a pulse generator. A temperature detector is provided for measuring the temperature of the rubber roller or any part of the device having a temperature substantially equal to the rubber roller. The output of the temperature detector is sent to the pulse generator for controlling the stepping motor according to the measured temperature. When the temperature is raised, the stepping motor is controlled to reduce the speed of rotation and the increase in feeding speed due to expansion of the rubber roller is compensated, thereby feeding the web at a constant speed irrespective of the temperature fluctuation.

摘要: A wire insertion apparatus particularly for forming presses and the like comprising at least one pair of insertion rollers between which a wire or rod is periodically advanced by a predetermined insertion length, a crank and connecting rod mechanism connecting at least one of the insertion rollers to a drive shaft for producing a periodic angular movement of the insertion rollers, the mechanism comprising an intermediate lever member pivotally mounted on an axis, first and second linkage rods connecting the intermediate member respectively with an eccentric on the drive shaft and an eccentric mounted on one of the insertion rollers so that rotation of the drive shaft produces angular movement of the insertion roller in response to pivotal motion of the intermediate lever member, and means for shifting the pivot point of one of the linkage rods so as to change the distance between the pivot axis and that rod and thereby change the degree of angular movement of the insertion rollers.

摘要: An apparatus for simultaneously forming a plurality of terminals from a plurality of lengths of wire and inserting the terminals simultaneously into preformed openings in a plastic part. The apparatus includes a mechanism for simultaneously moving a plurality of lengths of wire which are held in spaced relation to one another to a severing position. The wires may be arranged in both horizontal and vertical planes. In one embodiment, wires from different planes are brought together in a common plane at a severing position. At the severing position, a shears is provided for simultaneously severing end portions from the lengths of wires to form a plurality of short wire terminals. The shears and an anvil support the terminals and maintain them in spaced relation to one another after severing for insertion into the preformed openings in the plastic part. The apparatus further includes a tool which supports the plastic part. A slide moves the plastic part and the terminals into engagement with one another to thereby embed the terminals in the preformed openings of the plastic part. A tool is provided for bending portions of the terminals after the terminals are embedded in the plastic part. The various terminal forming and inserting tools are operated by air cylinders. The air cylinders are actuated by solenoid operated spool valves. The solenoids are sequentially energized by a programmable function generator. The various tools are easily replaceable in order to adapt the apparatus to terminal parts of varying shapes and quantities of terminals. For the same reason, the function generator can easily be reprogrammed.

摘要: A rope pulling device which is compact in size which includes a housing adapted to be fixed to an exterior object. A rope is to be physically placed between a pair of cog wheels which are biased into continuous contact with the rope surface. Each of the cog wheels are operatively driven by separate driven gears with each driven gear being rotatably mounted on a plate. Each of the plates are interconnected to move together to mirror image angular positions through a cam means. Each of the plates are also pivotally mounted upon the housing. A handle means is rotationally mounted upon the housing and is operatively connected to drive a drive gear which, in turn, is operatively connected to drive each of the driven gears in the same direction of rotation at the same angular velocity. Upon operation of the handle means, the driven gears are rotated simultaneously which causes linear movement of a rope placed therebetween with respect to the housing.

摘要: In a mechanized sheet transferring device a first movable gripping means is disposed adjacent the continuous sheet desired to be incrementally transferred forwardly of the device, with said gripping means alternately advancing said sheet forwardly of the device, whereupon a stationary gripping means effectively clamps said sheet stationary, while simultaneously the sheet may be sheared or punched by a mechanism, or the like, while the movable gripping means returns to its initial position. Since the movable gripping means is moved by means of a drive chain and motor-sprocket arrangement, this movable gripping means may be set at any position along the longitudinal length of the sheet moving surface of the device, to provide for precise advancement of the sheet material between shearing operations. In the method of operation of this sheet transferring device, the movable gripping means alternately advances the sheet material a fixed distance, whereat circuitry energizes a stationary gripping means that clamps the sheet into fixed position, while said movable gripping means returns to its initial preset location along the sheet moving surface of the device.
