A vibration control apparatus for a vehicle equipped with a power unit and a vehicle body is comprised of an active engine mount disposed between the power unit and the vehicle body. A controller is connected to a vehicle body vibration detector, a passenger compartment vibration detector and a drive force detector. The vehicle body vibration detector detects a vibration transmitted from the power unit to the vehicle body through the active engine mount. The passenger compartment vibration detector detects a vibration of a member defining a passenger compartment of the vehicle. The drive force detector detects as to whether driving force of the power unit is transmitted to driving wheels. The controller controls the active engine mount to reduce the passenger compartment vibration when the driving force is transmitted to the driving wheels and to reduce the vehicle body vibration when the driving force is not transmitted to the driving wheels.

Efforts can then be directed to dynamically softening the mount in the primary load path. Specific apparatus may include passive fluid devices, active fluid devices, passive non-fluid devices and active non-fluid devices. In the case of a fluid mount, another feature of the invention is to have an auxiliary fill port of the volume compensator in alignment with at least one and, preferably both, of the primary fill port for the mount and the inertia track to facilitate filling.

A liquid-sealed mounting device that can suitably attenuate and cut off various vibrations of an engine, reduce the number of parts and components necessary, and reduce the energy consumed by the actuator by lowering the operation ratio thereof. The liquid-sealed mounting device includes an upper liquid chamber and a lower liquid chamber, both of which are sealed an have liquid contained therein. The chambers communicate with each other via two orifices provided therebetween. One of the orifices is normally open, while the second orifice may be opened and closed by means of a valve body. An electromagnetic actuator drives the valve body to the open or closed position thereof, and a vibration absorber vibrated and driven by the electromagnetic actuator is provided in the upper liquid chamber. The valve body and the vibration absorber may be used together as a unitary member. A valve stem supports the valve body/vibration absorber and a spring member energizes the valve body/vibration absorber directions toward the opened and closed positions.

A power unit mounting device for an automotive vehicle is provided which serves to damp vibration transmitted from a power unit to a vehicle chassis. The power unit mounting device includes generally a plurality of working chambers filled with a working fluid, an actuator operable to adjust transmission of vibration between the working chambers which is inputted from the power unit through the working fluid for varying damping characteristics exhibited by the power unit mounting device, and a bracket supporting the power unit mounting device on the vehicle chassis. The bracket is so arranged as to surround the actuator for increasing freedom in installation of the mounting device on the vehicle chassis and for protecting the actuator against radiant heat from the engine and/or an exhaust pipe.
