    摘要: An interface controller, situated between a graphics controller and a memory array in a color video display system operable in a read-modify-write mode, configured to detect a select transparency color in whole or in part and to respond by selectively changing the color binary data for the corresponding pixel in a frame buffer. In another aspect, the invention includes drawing modes impelmented by logically combining pixel color binary data in accordance with a defined truth table so as to allow the pixel color data representing a new image to interact in a defined manner based upon color with the data in a previously defined image. As implemented, the binary data in the frame buffer is acted upon in a read-modify-write sequence whereby the various logic operations analyze the source (foreground) pixel data, the destination (background) pixel data, in the context of control signals, to define the pixel color data written into the frame buffer as the color representation for that pixel position.

    摘要: An electronic filter system for electronically placing a filter on the screen of a video display monitor. A video signal after prescribed processing is fed into an arrangement of four switches. The first switch is operatively connected to three transistors, and through the second, third and fourth switches, to three potentiometers. When the various transistors conduct, they each produce an output signal that is fed to the input of a conventional color video display monitor having three primary color guns. The signals from the three transistors are fed to each of the primary color guns in order to produce varying images on the display monitor. The second, third and fourth switches provide a convenient way for selectively controlling the activation of the green, red and blue guns of the display monitor. Several different sources of video signals for introduction into the inventive circuitry are contemplated. Examples of sources are an ultrasound apparatus, a video microscope camera, and a system for converting an X-ray image into a video signal.

    摘要: The invention is embodied in a system comprising image memory and a display processor that automatically processes video data which alternate between having chrominance pixels of greater area than luminance pixels and having chrominance pixels of the same area as luminance pixels. Subsamples describing chrominance pixels of greater size are time-division-multiplexed with samples describing pixels in the image memory output when the former type of processing is done. Whichever format for video data is currently being used, the channel for reading subsamples from image memory to the display processor is used to transmit flag data controlling the mode of processing of video data performed by the video processor.

    摘要: In a display system for a data processing system color words for display at sequential pixels are obtained by addressing a lookup table memory with addresses obtained from a bit map display memory. Initialization data is stored in the display memory and, during an initialization procedure, is applied to the lookup table along the same data path used by the addresses during display. In one system a multiplexer takes the form of a shift register into which sequential pixel addresses are applied in parallel to interleaved stages. The two LUT addresses are read out sequentially by shifting the shift register. During the initialization procedure shifting is disabled and the interleaved address and data bytes are applied along separate address and data lines to the lookup table. One data path can be utilized for either eight plane or four plane display. In another system, a buffer storage is provided between the address input to the LUT memory and the data input and, during the initialization procedure, data is stored in the buffer in alternate cycles of the display memory output.

    摘要: In order to compensate for image distortion introduced into a digitally controlled raster-scan CRT by the finite video amplifier rise and fall times, the digital video drive waveform is subjected to selective pulse stretching to extend the duration of each pel which is immediately preceded by a pel of lower light intensity value (brightness). This is achieved by means of a comparator (14) which examines each current pel PEL(N) in the video data stream in relation to its immediately preceding neighbor PEL(N-1) in order to detect pel boundary transition therebetween representing an increase in brightness from the preceding pel to the current pel. Re-timing means (17, 19, 21, 22) is operably under control of the comparator output to cause advancement in time by a predetermined amount (dt) of any such pel boundary transition relative to remaining pel boundary transitions.
